Rain Dogs
June 4th 2010 07:56
Small black puffs of cloud pop out from nowhere,
hover, silently menacing the earth below.
Cousins come in grey suits to congregate
and blot the blue sky from sight.
Antarctic's breath soon follows to chill the very bones
of those who wait and wonder.
Cold icy drops fall gently
down the slopes of the suited ones,
silently soaking the shivering skin
of we who wait outside.
No deluge to run from, no flashing light to warn us,
Just a sneak attack on the innocent watchers.
We work on until it's too late,
We are wet,
and cold,
and miserable.
