When you hear names like Shahrukh Khan, Aditya Chopra and Yashraj Films in the Indian film industry, you take it for granted that anything they do or make will be superb, classy and quite unforgettable. But this time I learnt - You cannot take anything for granted!

When I saw Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the latest offering from these stall warts of Indian Cinema, I was utterly disappointed. And this has got nothing to do with my disliking Sharukh Khan and his style of acting. Actually he was quite tolerable in this movies, it was the movie itself, the story, the script and the expressionless heroine who were the boring elements.

To say some good things about this movie, it is quite different from the usual outdoor locations, one gets to see quite often in bollywood movies nowadays. Taking a complete home turn, the film has been shot entirely in India and that too not the urban India, but the small bylanes and brickhouses of India with no designer jackets or dresses, no fimly style parental oppositions and no preneptual drama whatsoever.

The story starts in a very good way, showing the hero as a common man, who might sit next to you in the local train every morning and you still may not notice him. He has a regular clerical 9 to 5 job and loves his life this way, until, he quite unexpectedly gets married to a beautiful young girl, who is the daughter of his ex-teacher.

Now this girl is supposed to be flamboyant, fun loving quite naughty at times kind of a girl, but alas..it is only the dialogues that convey that message, not the girl herself. She just stares blankly into space, tries a lot to emote the dialogues but fails miserably....It is like watching a doll speaking some words that she does not understand.....

Sharukh really tries hard to capture the moments, with his quite adorable act of the common man, and he even tries hard to bring some element of emotion and acting from the new girl in bollywood. Another highlight and a breather is Vinay pathak who acts as Sharukh's best friend and a hairstylist by profession. All the scenes with these two actors are actually quite funny, emotional and interesting. Goes to show how good actors can turn a scene in their favor....

Coming back to the film plot, their boring life takes a u turn when the hero decides to let his wife join a dance class and then he too joins the same class to spend time with her. Only, he is not the oiled hair, bespectacled with a thin moustache man anymore. He has changed entirely into a regualr bright clothes wearing, slang user who thinks he knows everything. This street smart guy becomes the dancing partner of his wife and tries to woo her with his charm....

From this point, the story just goes down down and down, There are so many improbable things packed in one movies that you start thinknig you are actually watching a novice filmamkers first attempt at directing a film....

A wife who does not recognise her husnad, a husband who cannot directly tell his wife that he loves her, but poses as someone else to do so and the ultimate spin in the tale, the wife plans to run away with this guy who is actually her husband.....

After an hour ofwatching this fiasco, I prayed that the next 2 hours could just pass in the blink of an eye....but rab ( God) really wanted me to see he complete sobby tale....with all the happy endings and the wife going back to her husband thing.....

If you really love Shahrukh Khan, watch this movie. He has acted well. But if you think you are going to get a fantastic tale like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le jayenege out of this one, forget it, Aditya Chopra has lost his touch.....for me atleast.
