PRESIDENTIAL QUOTES 2

June 18th 2009 08:38
: QUOTE ME NO QUOTES!
Herein lies another instalment of my famous, and infamous, quotes from all walks of life, however, this particular series is devoted to the Presidents of the United States of America. Why just them? Because Australia barely rates a mention overseas; unless it is on fire, in flood, or, we find another "Crikey" type to wrestle dangerous animals.

Of course, this nature aspect of Australia is played up far too much by overseas countries, leaving their collective populaces frightened about coming here, lest they be dragged from their sky scraper five star hotel room by a voraciously hungry crocodile, to then be tossed into a pit swarming and seething with poisonous spiders and snakes! We would never allow this, well, not too often, and only if you insult us! (Warning to Aussie haters; keep away from the crocodile luggage in hotel lobbies!)
So, enjoy life, while you still can, for nature will inherit the Earth.

The following is from the mind of the late President, Ronald Reagan:

the late *great President Reagan *(when compared to Bush!)

"The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is."

"I'm convinced that today the majority of Americans want what those first Americans wanted: A better life for themselves and their children; a minimum of government authority."

"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first."

"A troubled and afflicted mankind looks to us, pleading for us to keep our rendezvous with destiny; that we will uphold the principles of self-reliance, self-discipline, morality, and, above all, responsible liberty for every individual that we will become that shining city on a hill."

Then the Bush govenrment turned it into a dilapidated condo!

"I believe with all my heart that our first priority must be world peace, and that use of force is always and only a last resort, when everything else has failed, and then only with regard to our national security."

Then the Bush cartel ..well... you know what happened!

"Every country and every people has a stake in the Afghan resistance, for the freedom fighters of Afghanistan are defending principles of independence and freedom that form the basis of global security and stability."

Then, along came Bush et al.... and demonstrated how to turn allies and friends into whipping boys, and indifferent and/or non aggressive nations into mortal enemies.

"Abraham Lincoln freed the black man. In many ways, Dr. King freed the white man..."

But the Afro-American people still had a glass ceiling above their heads, until President Obama proved to the world, America had grown up. Or has it? Time will tell.

"The defense policy of the United States is based on a simple premise: The United States does not start fights. We will never be an aggressor."

Errr... well, we all make mistakes... one little error a liar doth not make...

"The only way there could be war is if they start it; we're not going to start a war."

Okay, so maybe two errors....

"Cannot swords be turned to plowshares? Can we and all nations not live in peace? In our obsession with antagonisms of the moment, we often forget how much unites all the members of humanity."

Then along comes another President and the "plowshares" turn back into rockets and bombs and bullets and Depleted Uranium....

"Freedom is the right to question and change the established way of doing things."

Not under the Bush reign it wasn't!!

"I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited."

Not under the Bush reign it wasn't...

"Once you begin a great movement, there's no telling where it will end. We meant to change a nation, and instead, we changed a world."

But not for long, the Bush political cartel saw to that.

"I hope we once again have reminded people that man is not free unless government is limited."

Oh, okay, so that means today we are.......?

"America's best days are yet to come. Our proudest moments are yet to be. Our most glorious achievements are just ahead."

I hope so, and in peace and harmony, for all.

"I now begin the journey that will lead me into the sunset of my life. I know that for America there will always be a bright dawn ahead. Thank you, my friends. May God always bless you."

Bless you too Ronnie RayGunz...

"History will give Reagan great credit for standing for principles." ~ George H. W. Bush

And so....what does that say about your, and your son's reign, Mister Ex President?

"An excellent leader of our nation during challenging times at home and abroad." ~ Gerald Ford

Fine sentitments, but, wasn't it deceased ex prez LBJ, who said of Ford, "He is so stupid he can't chew gum and fart at the same time!" ???HMMM??? Okay, that was churlish of me, forgive me Pres.Ford.

"True, Reagan was a man of the right. But, while adhering to his convictions, with which one could agree or disagree, he was not dogmatic; he was looking for negotiations and cooperation." ~ Mikhail Gorbachev

On yah Mickey. They both reduced the global killing nuclear missles down to a... errr..

well, a smaller amount of global killing missles, so they could just kill the world over and again just a few hundred times each ... nice job boys!

"Ronald Reagan had a higher claim than any other leader to have won the Cold War for liberty and he did it without a shot being fired." ~ Margaret Thatcher

And without a terrible hair do... unlike the Iron Maiden...

And lastly, just to put politics and Reagan's view of it, into a proper perspective;

"Government is like a big baby, an alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no sense of responsibility at the other."

PAX PRESIDENT REAGAN
