Premier league Soccer and future of indian football
February 9th 2012 08:37
On March 24th 2012, Premier league Soccer (PLS) will launch in kolkotta,. Is it the much needed boost for indian football ? is a big question.
Certainly, i feel one good new is that money in big way has entered Indian soccer, first time in history clubs and player are bought at such high prices, although the league is at a district level and the management is in an experimentive mode.
Former international players are introduced in the PLS, Hernan Crespo, Juan Pablo Sorin of Argentina, Fabio Aannavora of Italy, Robert Pires, Jay Jay Okocha Nigerea, Robbie Fowler England etc, will be playing in india with local players, what rich experience and knowledge the youngster will be getting, it would be first time in india that such players will play in india, they are bought at high prices and the highest bid was for crespo,
This move will definetaly open the doors for more european players to move to india simultaneously indian players should lift their level of play then only it is viable in the long run, for this to happen these franchises will have to open academies at the district level and prepare players for the future.
In a country where people are still reluctant to take sports as career, PLS has given an opportunity and hope for the budding players that they too can make their living by playing football which is very important,
I believe it is a very positive step and All india football federation should fully support this kind of project, i just imagine to see when india plays in europe and millions of indian cheering for it,
It does not matter whether PLS is instant success or not , but for sure PLS IS THE BEGINNING........not the end.
