Can Owens and Parcells coexist?

September 4th 2006 08:25
The main question regarding the Dallas Cowboys is whether coach Bill Parcells and star wide receiver Terrell Owens work together? Both have huge egos, both are temperamental. Its like a train wreck waiting to happen. However one thing they can both agree on are that they are both winners. Parcells have won two Super Bowl Championships with the New York Giants. Owens is arguably the best wide receiver in the league today.

If Parcells can utilize Owens to the maximum, the Cowboys could possibly reach the playoffs. Parcells has a history of getting the best of controversial players like Lawrence Taylor during his coaching stint with the Giants. Owens also has an agenda this season. His time in Philadelphia ended acrimoniously and he was portrayed justifiably as selfish egomaniac. Owens needs to step up this season and show his loyal fans that he still can carry a team.

The saying “actions speak louder than words” does not all ways hold true with Owens. He is a master showman. He puts people in arenas and he is the franchise of the Cowboys. However he has a lot of baggage and this season if he plays for Parcells with less controversy, he may be able to repair his tarnished star. The success of the Cowboys will be dictated to by this coach- player relationship. One thing that I can say its going to be one helluva of a season. Stay tuned.
Mission impossible?
Can Parcells work his magic on Owens?

Manning Continued

July 27th 2006 12:08
There is no question that Peyton Manning is one of the elite NFL QBs in the league today. Statistically there is no one greater. He broke Dan Marino’s record of most touch down passes for a season in 2004. Manning is the only QB to pass for 3,000 yards in each of his first 8 seasons in the NFL. Not even the great Tom Brady has done that. He has started almost every game in his career. The streak is currently at 128 games. Did I forget to mention he was also co-MVP of the league with Steve McNair in 2003?

However there is a perception that Peyton is not a big time player. Manning has never reached or won the greatest prize in the sport, the holy grail; the Superbowl. I think that must be really eating at him. Eight seasons in the L and still no Superbowl ring. Last season was his best chance for redemption but Big Ben and the Steelers had other ideas.

In my humble opinion, Manning is the best QB in the league today. Any team in this league would move heaven and earth if they could have him in their organization. He’s the best passer of the game today. He is a born leader and has the respect of his peers.

Manning, this season must show his critics, that he is not a choker in big games. He has all the tools to prove people wrong. Colts as always has a very good squad of players. Its up to Manning to lead them to the promise land. Like Alxander conquered the world, its time King Manning conquer his final frontier; winning the Superbowl

Big Ben is here to stay

July 20th 2006 10:08
Ben Roethlisberger or Big Ben can be described in so many ways. Talented, fearless are some of the words that come to mind. I would just call him 'great'. He led the Steelers to their second superbowl in franchise history last season. He led his team in the postseason winning three games on the road which is unheard of in the NFL post season. By taking the Steelers to Superbowl, Big Ben became youngest QB to raise the Superbowl trophy.

There were signs in his rookie season, that he would be this good. In 2004, He became the starting QB after Tommy Maddox got injured. In his rookie season he lead his team to 13 wins in a row. He was selected as the NFL offensive rookie of the year . Big Ben had arrived and the Steelers had their franchise player.

Sky is the limit for Big Ben. If he is injury free, I believe that he could be as good as Elway, Marrino in the years to come. This year, we also saw his reckless side as well, when was involved in mortorcycle accident. Most of his injuries could have been avoided if we was just wearing a helmet.

Everybody makes mistakes., even star QB's. Ben is lucky to be alive. He needs to be more responsible in his activities off the field as well. Many Steelers fans as well as his teamates must be relieved that their getting their franchise in one piece. Big Ben has to have another phenomenal season, if the Steelers are to win back to back Superbowls. He one of the strongest QB's in the league and he has an amazing quickness for a man his size. Most of all he is a very good reader of the game and if the game is on the line, Ben will carry you home. Steelers can win it all this season, so put your money on this man please !

What now for the Eagles

July 14th 2006 01:06
Philadelphia is one of the oldest cities in America. It was the site where Declaration of Independence was signed. It a city steeped in tradition.

Sports is also a hallmark of Philly. People there follow their sports teams with a passion. None more so than Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles are philadelphia. The Eagles are revered in the city. None of city's other teams; not the Sixers, the Philes comes close to matching the Eagles in fan support
