Positive ways to commemorate your loved ones

July 27th 2007 04:27
As you are getting older, you will have more and more experience of seeing someone you loved and cared very much passed away. They just died in accidents, critical illness or being victims in certain crimes. The shock of the death always pushes our mind into overdrive. Our normal routines would be changed. Because of grief, we may stay up late, eat little or nothing, and often have to deal with a variety of emotions especially depression.

A web site I happened to come across a few days ago Registry of Life is designed just for helping those who have lost their loved ones to overcome the haunting grief and start new life again. The website also provides outlets such as photo album, life timeline..etc for people to express their thoughts about the ones they have lost.

In fact, our grief is pretty much like a raw, open wound. If we don't try to treat it immediately, it may lead to more anxiety, less sleep, and increased fatigue. As a consequence, our immune system will get weak and our energy level may drop to a dangerous level. Finally our health may be in trouble.

Website like Registry of Life has a section Ask Dr Dees providing useful information on how to cope with the wounds caused by the loss of someone we love very much. Everyone who is under such condition can visit the site and find ideas on how to end the vicious cycle and effectively handle their own emotional problems.
