Proving what a diverse artist she is, the two albums merge Pop, 70s Rock, 80s Electro-pop, and Club Dance to create one of the best albums released in 2009. More recently she created a media storm with the release of the music video of “Telephone”, which is homage to the Quentin Tarantino films “Kill Bill” and “Pulp Fiction” and to the film “Thelma and Louise”. This will be seen as a very controversial choice for number 1 as a lot of Kylie fans were hoping for a more personal album after her breast cancer diagnosis. Instead, Kylie’s tenth studio album X (the Roman numeral for ten) is a pop masterpiece that is a celebration of life and love. Working with different producers and song writers, Kylie produces an album of eclectic songs, from Glam Rock (“2 Hearts”), to dance floor thumpers (“Like a Drug”, “The One”), to electro-pop (“Speakerphone”, “Nu-di-ty”), to pop (“In My Arms”, “Stars”, “Wow”) to R&B (“All I See”) and still manages to get a little personal (“No More Rain”, “Cosmic”). Prior to the album being released, 3 CD-R discs of demos for the album were “lost” by a record company employee. Containing about 50 songs, some of which have turned up either as B-sides (“Do it Again”, Carried Away”) or performed live (“Ruffle my Feathers”, “Flower”) or leaked onto the internet (the Mylo produced and leaked tracks “In the Mood for Love” and “Spell of Desire”). As Kylie’s first album after her breast cancer diagnosis, this album was always going to be brilliant to me. I was always going to see it as a triumph and I believe in time, this album will be seen as a defining moment, not only in Kylie’s career, but in pop music.
Highlights – The whole album!!
As with all lists of this kind, we hope that it creates a bit of controversy and we would love to see your comments below, for and against, or you can email us your own list to popisnotdead@hotmail.com

Pop Is Not Dead!
You know Jas, I do love Pink and I love all of her singles, especially from Funhouse, but I just find that I never listen to her albums, and this was how I pretty much based the list. I think that Funhouse should be on the Honourable Mentions list but I think when people also start to mention their favourites that list could just grow and grow!! It was really hard choosing 20!!
Put together a Top 20 and send to me - I would love to see what's on your list!!
