Australia’s biggest Hip Hop Festival is headed to CarriageWorks for the whole of March 2011 with some of the most phenomenal national and international hip hop talent across all elements of the culture - music, dance, street art, film, theatre and photography.
See some of the world’s biggest hip hop stars including Rahzel (USA), Supernatural (USA), DJ JS-1 (USA) plus phenomenal breaking talents like B*Boy Blond (Korea), Poe 1 (USA), B*Boy Storm (Germany)!
Most activities and events are totally free, some ticketed with no price over $35. There’s something for the whole family, hip hop enthusiasts and novices alike.
DJS, MCs, beat boxers, graffiti artists, dance crews, theatre shows, photo exhibitions, film fest and free dance classes…. PLATFORM will be one of the biggest hip hop events Australia has to offer.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - NICK POWER
Nick Power, (AKA B*Boy Rely) has been representing Australian Hip Hop for over fifteen years as a b*boy, choreographer, teacher, producer, and artistic director. As Artistic Director of Platform Hip Hop Festival, Nick has fostered relationships with artists from all facets of the culture, working to develop an event with broad general appeal, while maintaining the essence of hip hop community.
He was also a performer and co-creator in the sold out Hip Hop theatre show Survival Tactics which was performed at the Sydney Opera House, Melbourne Town Hall and Brisbane Powerhouse.
As a dancer, Nick has toured and performed with acts including Grandmaster Flash, Run DMC and the Resin Dogs; and large scale events such as Sydney Festival, Big Day Out, and Splendour in the Grass.
Nick has worked extensively as a dance tutor within the remote indigenous community of Lajamanu through Tracks Dance Co. A performance he choreographed in Lajamanu was featured at the Australian Dance Awards in 2010. He has also been a dance tutor at many other events and festivals including Stamping Ground Festival, Darwin Festival, Sydney Children’s Festival, and Bakehouse – an inclusive arts festival.
