Pistons Left Shocked

April 26th 2008 22:31
Shocking. The Sixers met the Pistons in a pivotal game three last night. Not only did they win - they flat out beat the pants off the Pistons. A 95-75 win left Detroit looking depressed, dejected, downtrodden. As commentator Tom McGinnis would say...Who woulda thunk it? The Pistons came into the series as clear cut favorites. Maybe the Pistons would come out flat. Maybe they would display their arrogance early on. Maybe the Sixers would steal the first game. Check, check, and check. But after that, analysts claimed, we will see the real Detroit Pistons. No more games. And we did. The Pistons took game two, and convincingly. But then game three...shocking. And consider HOW Philadelphia won, with the star, Andre Iguodala, shooting just 2-9 with 10 points and 6 turnovers. Sam Dalembert had a monster game, going for 22 and 16. Reggie Evans was a major energizer of the bench, as he has been all series. "Mr. Big Shot," Chauncey Billups, continues to struggle.

Shocking. Not only did the Sixers win, in the first half they beat Detroit in their own game. Playing primarily half-court sets, the Sixers went into half time with a four point lead. The second half saw what has become the Sixers forte this season - run. The Sixers caused turnover after turnover, pulling away from Detroit and humiliating them.
Shocking. Is the unthinkable - the Sixers actually getting past this first round - capable of happening? Suddenly, this series is no longer a give in for Detroit. Suddenly, Detroit looks scared. Suddenly, if Detroit doesn't take the next game, they're in a 3-1 hole. Shocking.

Solid post. The Pistons have decided to try and that ultimately means the end of the Sixers.

Thad Young and Williams are going to be real quality players in this league.
