Unlike the previous three movies from the X-men series this film blew me out of the water. X-men origins, has paved the way for more GOOD x-men prequels. Hugh Jackman(Wolverine) was as always at his sharpest and his storyline with his on-screen brother Liev Schreiber (Sabretooth) was one to feast your eyes upon everything came together in this film that didn't in the last three. A well planned and timed storyline along with sufficient dosage of action and drama; couple that with Will.I.Am's film debut as the nifty John Wraith. A stand-up cast with a stand-up script, creating a quite remarkable film. Hugh Jackman had proved he really was the best to play Wolverine in the previous three movies but in X-Men Origins: Wolverine Hugh Jackman proved he IS Wolverine with an outstanding display that is sure to leave his mark on the character. Liev Schrieber brought back to life a character that in the first of the X-Men Quadrilogy was effectively killed off being utilised only as a lapdog to Magneto's plans, with the rivalry between Sabretooth and Wolverine tossed out completely. Liev Schrieber also brings with him a more ominous presence to sabretooth, one that was missing yet needed. This is a definite MUST SEE. Not to be missed. Go watch it... NOW!

I had heard alot about this film and what I had heard was not very positive. Although I was never really told why as is usually the case so I decided my own opinion of it would have to be the deciding factor and I'd have to give the film a 5(on a scale 1-10). It was an okay story line for me and the acting etc was done pretty well but it didn't really have an ending, well, it did just not a very good one. What happens is an alien lands on earth, in Central Park no less, and is captured by the US military. One Doctor in particular, our protagonist whom has been introduced to us already, is one of many doctors who has been dragged from their homes in order to decipher the alien and what this extra-terrestrial is planning or what it is. We soon discover the alien has certain powers to do certain things, blah-di-blah-di-blah. I' not really in the business of destroying a film for people but after a long drawn out build up we have an incredibly disappointing anti-climax which abruptly ends the film and sends us on our way. I feel the potential for such a film was wasted with the ending and really could have been utilised much more effectively. Don't let me deter you from watching it though it is worth a watch (just One), just don't expect to be wowed.

I know I may be a little bit late reviewing this film but you have to start somewhere don't you? Now one of the reasons why I've chosen to review this flick is because it is an Irish made film. Starring Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell and also among others Voldemort from the Harry Potter films. (My friend made sure everybody in the cinema understood that fact before nearly being ejected from the theater). This film I suppose is without a doubt worth watching especially if you have no idea what to expect as I am a firm believer the element of surprise is something that makes watching a film that much more enjoyable. I for one was not expecting much for this film and only for the fact, I was democratically out voted I would not have gone to see it.
However I was pleasantly surprised with this little black comedy. Colin Farrell made an inspiring return to the screen and proved a great actor while sober as well as drunk. Brendan Gleeson takes to his familiarly gruff hard-man role with a keen sensitivity for mythology and nature among other things. This film is definitely worth a watch as it is dark without being to heavy. In Bruges is an enjoyable film for all that appreciate a dry Irish sense of humour and a few laughs.
