Welcome - I am providing regularly updates of news relevant for visa applicants who want to move or migrate to Australia.

Migration Australia
Having immigrated to Australia myself, I decided to offer my experience and services to other people who seek a change of lifestyle. My career spanned more than 10 years working for governmental bodies in Germany. I then moved to the West Midlands in the UK where I lived and studied for several years. Now I enjoy living in Sydney as a permanent resident.

This is the final opportunity for all pre 1 September 2007 GSM applicants to lodge a capital investment. The South Australian Government has announced it will not accept any further applications from General Skilled Migration visa applicants who wish to lodge a capital investment to gain the bonus five (5) points, as it will close the scheme from 31 October 2009. This is the only scheme currently available which the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) is satisfied meets the requirements in the Migration Regulations.

Some important changes for 457 visa applicants and visa holders:

Market Salary Rates Arrangements

From 14 September 2009 Market Salary Rates requirements are introduced to (subclass 457) Business Long Stay Visa applications.
The payment of market salary rates will ensure all new sponsored (subclass 457) visa holders will benefit from the same wages and conditions of employment as an equivalent Australian employee. The market salary rates will be determined by industrial arrangements that apply to an Australian employee also.

Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT)

In order to have a 457 visa application granted, the market salary rate, payable to the new visa holder, must be more than $45 220.

Transitional arrangements for existing 457 visa holders

Transitional arrangements are in place for employers currently paying less than the market salary rates to their employees who hold 457 visas. By 1 January 2010 the salaries must be increased to market salary rates.
