Pet Peeves on the Road
April 1st 2008 13:53
Everyone has things that piss them off. Most people can find ways to avoid those things, at least up to a point. My biggest pet peeves are things I have to see every day. Here are some:
55 mph speed limits for trucks while cars can go 65. Thats completely insane! It causes more accidents than it prevents.
People who are so stupid they think I can stopp this rig on a dime and cut me off on the freeway. You can't even guess how many near misses I've had because of that. Knock on wood..... well I would if there was anything wooden in this tractor.
Getting over loaded and having some idiot tell me to go ahead and run with it. I'm allowed 80,000 lbs, truck and all. Going through a scale at 85,000 gets you pulled over, ticketed, and a long wait for someone to come and take part of the load off. They pay me to drive, not sit and wait with an overload.
My biggest pet peeve used to be the radio reception I had with my old radio. Id just get interested in a talk show and the station would fade out and Id have to try to find another one. Or the only music is the area was something I didnt much like. Cant bitch anymore, though. I got Serius for Christmas and now I can listen to whatever I want, whenever I want. Its great! I even get the old radio shows like Burns and Allen, Gunsmoke and Ellery Queen. The wife is really jealous. Guess I'll have to get her one.
Cell phone reception is probably my biggest pet peeve. Except for Laramie and Cheyenne, my phone is dead all they way through Wyoming. Sometimes just going up or down a hill cuts it off, and there are "dead zones" of different sizes all over the country. I didnt buy the dam thing to look at, I bought it to use!
