Jamoz's corner - by jamoz

perverts, corporate paedophilia and parents

October 10th 2006 13:14
I have to ask : What is a married policeman doing prowling around a shopping centre looking for young boys to expose themselves to him for? It seems so very unfortunately ironic that a person who is an authority figure (albeit he didn't use it but claimed to be a 17 year old) knows the law but doesn't have the faintest idea regarding morals and decency. He has risked not only his own life but, of those around him as well. Has he learned nothing of the convicted paedophile whose house was burned down last week? This sicko who has denied everything was sentenced today in court and I want to wish him all the best in his four months of prison. May he be exposed on the inside to all of the genitals that he was so intent on seeing on the outside.

There seems to be a lot of talk about young people and sexuality these last few days. Watching the news throughout the day today, there seemed to be a focus on keeping young people protected from the harmful exposure by being dressed too provocatively in advertisements for department stores. Well, well well haven't our chickens come home to roost? Children have been bombarded with all kinds of sexualized images for the last few years from the media and since it has now become fashionable, department stores want to sell provocative clothing to their target market, so what do they do? Find kids to model them. Of course the kids have to promote the clothes the way they're intended and so now we end up in this situation.
Where are the parents in all of this? I have to lay at least some of the blame at the parents feet, and you know why? The parents are the ones who left the children in front of the television so that it became the teacher and guardian of morals. Not only that parents were there, and continue to be there buying these types of clothes for their children to parade around in, and not only that, I would at least think that the parents of these models would have a say, or at least authorise what their children wear on a shoot. If parents were that unhappy about exposing their children in that manner then they should by all means have pulled them off the shoot and take them out of modelling altogether. Did you see or hear about that happening?

Why leave this topic for psychologists and child welfare experts to slug out? Parents you have a moral obligation to make sure your children are being protected at all times, yet you stand idly by and let outsiders do what they want with your child. I don't think this debate would have ever come up if certain parents had done their jobs in the first place.
I have to admit though looking at some of the pictures I couldn't see anything wrong with them, because they were ordinary children in ordinary clothes, and I began to think to myself if these pictures disturbed some people so much I'm sure that there are some recently emanicipated Afghan women who have given up their veils and would be happy to be rid of them for our girls sake, and I'm sure there may be some child protection agent somewhere ready to jump on a plane and collect them for the childrens sake. How noble. Protection at any cost. It sounds like to me there are now shadows in every corner and monsters under every bed and in every closet as far as our children are concerned. I say be vigilant but not at the cost of destroying freedoms. Bring back strong and decisive parenting where it's most important in morals, values and attitudes with parents leading by example.
