...came home the night of his mother's burial. He walked in the door a warm smile upon his face when looking me in the eyes and said " I haven't cried yet." I said welcome home and that I could make him cry if he'd like. He laughed and the ten days we were apart melted away with our arms around one another, holding on for dear life.
That was Wednesday evening, we talked about the service and the loving words everyone spoke, he showed me some wonderfully enlarged photos of his mother's youthful antics and we resumed where we left off. No missing beat, just a note picked up where it was left.
Today is Saturday morning, he is sleeping. I plan to pamper him all day, it will be no different then any other day except that I will try to keep my loud talkative mouth shut. No, really I have a soothing voice, can't you tell?
Yesterday was his mother's birthday, she would have been ninety. At her last birthday when she asked me how old she was, I told her eighty-nine several times as her memory was slowly fading, she always retorted with humor and dignity that that, was too old and she did not want to live to be ninety, she died exactly one week before her birthday. A woman of her word.
I plan to take care of your son to the best if my ability, I already love him, as he loves and takes care of me. Happy Birthday Virginia and thank you for your watchful eye.
