Unreal Engine 3 heads to iPhone

December 23rd 2009 14:55

Epic Games has gotten their popular Unreal Engine 3 operating on the iPhone, and says that it will be used to play games on the iPhone 3GS as well as an unnamed mobile platform. The game engine has been used by a boat-load of games, but more recently in titles like Bioshock 2 and Borderlands.

Epic previously said that the engine was reserved for next gen consoles when pressed to bring the engine to the Nintendo Wii, so its move to bring the engine to the iPhone seems a bit puzzling. However, it has been reported that a supposed non-Epic entity is working on porting the engine to the Wii.

For more info, and to see a video of the engine in action on the iPhone, head to Super Power Bros.

Dark Void goes 8-bit on the Nintendo DSi

December 22nd 2009 19:44

Capcom has just released some interesting information regarding its upcoming release Dark Void, namely that the project was once envisioned for the NES, and that a re-imaginig of its 8-bit incarnation will be headed to Nintendo's DSi.

The trend of 8-bit demakes is hot over at Capcom, who released the retro -styled Mega Man 9 this past year and recently announced that another 8-bit Mega Man will come out next year.

Capcom actually gives a pretty in depth account of the game's origins, describing the special chip they were developing for the game and how the SNES basically killed the project.

Oh, and the game was originally called Dark Rift!

For the trailer, head over to Super Power Bros.
