home?

many of us have done the whole overseas living/working thing at some stage. some are still on foreign shores having found a lifestyle that is for any number of reasons more desirable than returning home. moving to a different country, leaving behind family and friends is a daunting prospect. once done though, it is extremely rewarding.
for myself, i found living in germany for nearly 3 years to be a great experience and i had a fantastic time. i worked for an airline which afforded me cheap flights and many opportunities to travel. i took those opportunities and created others wherever i could. it was a very busy time- i would quite often get changed at work to jump on the next flight, having brought my luggage to work with me. coming from australia, i was amazed by the convenience of having so many countries about one hours flight away. i utilized this convenience to the utmost.
my point here is that i left germany to return to the home i so dearly missed and to the friends and family i yearned for, only to find, upon reflection, that my life has not improved since being back. it is a yearning to come back that ends most overseas working holidays but how many of us are happy with it in the end?
this is my first ever blog so i was unsure of what to write but i felt this was something that many people could relate to.
