Orble Password Reset
May 11th 2009 12:44
A number of passwords have been reset due to recent problems with people taking control of other accounts.
If you find that you cannot log in, simply request a password reset and you will be sent your new password via email, which you can then change on my.orble.com if you wish to.
Sorry for the inconvenience folks, hopefully this will make Orble a safer place, and remember it's always a good idea to change your password at least once every couple of months.
Thanks,
Jon.

Can you help me out with some general questions.. I've been writing for about a month and my blog has been doing well so far. I 've been asked to take a domain blog and I think I will end up doing that, but I have a few questions.
1) can we advertise with banners on our blog sites?
2) can we do affiliate reviews on our sites?
3) can we link back to other sites by copying/pasting html code into our orble blogs? I've tried this and it doesn't work.
Please get back to me asap. I eagerly await your response. I need to find these things out before I take a domain blog.
Thanks,
Chuck

1) We prefer that you don't use paid banners other than AdSense. Advertising your other blogs or charities this way is fine.
2) No. Writing a movie review and then linking to Amazon is fine, doing reviews purely for affiliates is not.
3) You can. Have a look at the <a href="www.orble.com/blogging- tips/">blogging tips</a> blog for info on how to do this.
We cannot give out subscription lists for privacy reasons.
Cheers,
Jon.

Thank you very much for filling me in on it all. I appreciate it. One other question if you don't mind. If I take over a domain like Orble has asked me to, can I leave Orble and move my blog elsewhere at any time thereafter or am I bound to Orble at that point??
Thanks,
Chuck

in lieu of emailing your subscribers you could always dedicate a post to thanking them, after all when you post something they will get an email notification anyway
im pretty sure all the domains Jon registered have to stay on Orble even if you leave . . . however you can always request to maintain copyright over original material if you do not want your content to stay here after you leave

I haven't been able to log in for about a week now and have just discovered that I have lost my domain and someone else has taken over my blog. Someone else has access to all my work and reviews. I am horrified.
I haven't been posting for a while now, but have been commenting and generally still enjoying Orble.
I thought Orble contacted people who haven't posted in a while instead of just giving their blog away. Why wasn't I contacted so that I could do something?
This seems most unfair.
I'm upset and would like my blog back.
Please contact me,
Tracy

well I found this post, and sorted that out where the password goes, thanks for the notification ~ lucky this made the popular pages or I might never have known.
But in regard to Tracy*s post being *given away,* without notice, has that policy changed on orble? It is quite a distressing thought if it has.
In the past you have always given notification to the original blog moderator if you felt they hadn*t posted for a while, or were no longer interested in hosting their domain site.

I'm glad all is OK with your blogs, that's great.
I'm most upset about mine. Thanks for your message on Movies and Life, I'm hoping something will be sorted out as I've emailed Jon/Orble etc.

Trace - you still have no response from Jon?
If you are given a new domain, maybe you can ask the new person to give you all your old posts and delete them from the old site... Just a thought, though I know that doesn't fix the fact that your blog was given away after all this time, with no warning, and now you are seemingly being ignored!
Terrible.

maybe while you are waiting for a response (or action) from Jon you could contact the new owner of the blog and ask that they dont delete or alter anything in the meantime?
perhaps if they have only very recently taken it over, and you explained your situation, they would be willing to negotiate sharing it or giving it back?
i hope it all gets sorted out

Just a little note from my own experiences. I had my one blog taken from me. I went to post and suddenly it wasn't on my list. I checked all the dates and it was the 62nd day since my last post. My last notiification prior to that was like after the 28th day of inactivity. I contacted someone - they said there was already a new owner when I asked if I could have it back. He said he would check with the person who took it. I never heard back from him with an answer.
What upset me even more was - the site I lost was very good at getting AdSense clicks.Still is (which I will explain in a second). Like I said it was given out immediately (coincidentilly to a person always in the top ten in the stats email). I purposely let a blog I wasn't happy with lapse to more than 60 days. It gets very few AdSense clicks. It is still sitting on my list of blogs even after what is now 90 days.
Anyway, my most important point for you Tracy is...
Once you are able to sign in you still have complete control over all your posts. You can go in and edit them, delete them, whatever. Plus you also continue receiving AdSense impressions and possibly clicks. So, if you had another blog you could copy them over to your new spot.
I am however not sure if the person who got your blog can now manage your posts or not. None of mine have been touched by the new person. Although they have taken my personally made header image added to it and are still using it.
sorry if any of that came off sounding bitter, but i am a bit lol... Mainly just trying to help answer some concerns for Tracy.

I hope this has just been a terrible error. I, for one, loved reading your posts. So I hope for my sake as well as yours that you get yours back. Best of luck with it.

Thanks very much for your messages, I hope you got my PM on the weekend explaining why it's taken me a while to reply. I appreciate what you've told me, it definitely helps.
I'm sorry to hear what happened to your blog, that's really awful especially as you never heard back from the new owner.
The new owner has been helpful and hasn't adjusted any of my work etc. Jon said that it was an error that I didn't receive an notification email before it was changed and he is looking into that. That is good news for everyone. He also said that he will ask the new owner if he can move to another blog. While I feel bad asking someone to do this, I hope this can happen.
I had no idea where I was in terms of Adsense, I barely understood it before so thank-you for explaining this:
Plus you also continue receiving AdSense impressions and possibly clicks. So, if you had another blog you could copy them over to your new spot.
That's great. I might have to ask you a few questions after I've looked at my account etc.
Thanks again, Gene.
