Passion in Politics

People who join political parties are generally VERY PASSIONATE about things. Some are single focused and see that they can made a difference in their area of interest, and others have delusions of grandeur, and others just want to work for the community and do the right thing.
Some of the very passionate folk want to "WIN AT ALL COSTS", and are prepared to break laws, intimiate, and generally make a damned nuisance of themselves as well as rbinging politics into disrepute.
The fact is that in democracies, by and large ANYONE can get involved in poltiics. Obviously for most the basic thing is to join a politcal party. The reality is that independents find it very tough to win in Australia anyway, and with the forces of the larger parties, they are often without power. Unless of course the major parties are neck and neck - with the same number of elected representatives. The independent does have incredible power.
What I don't like is those that see that they have to lie and cheat to get their own way. Sadly that happens in all sorts of places in our society but it can be a nasty element within a poltiical party. I don't like the hatred that emanates from some folk re the opposition.
