Overdue Baby Mama Review
May 18th 2008 17:08
I don't write in here as much as I should since I lost time, but seriously, I watch so many movies and television shows I should be on here daily. My goal in life is to become an actor/television personality/talk show host/any kind of entertainer and to write a screenplay, so I should write as much as I can and maybe one day I will begin to talk about my acting experiences, when it happens!
It's kind of the perfect day to catch up on this blog. The wind is roaring, with rain pouring down along with a few snowflakes and whipping of windchimes. I know right, it's pretty much the middle of May, I should be sitting on my trampoline drinking tea writing this in the blaring sun of summer, but I'm not.
Getting right back into the business of this blog, the picture shows. Actually, I think I'm going to change the theme to be about everything entertainment that I feel like talking about. I might even move to Blogger, if I can reach more people that way. Any suggestions?
The last movie I saw in theaters was Baby Mama starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. I'm biased when reviewing this movie because I've been a huge fan of both of the ladies since their SNL days.
I almost set myself up for disappointment because I could have built this movie up way too much, but I'm happy to say that I enjoyed it and would recommend it. The basic story: Kate;s a business woman who longs for a baby but can't have one because her parts are broken and adoption agencies frown on single, successful women. She hires Angie, the complete opposite of herself, as her surrogate. Pregnancy is funny.
With two other ladies in the lead it could have gone over a little stale, but Tina and Amy bring a lot to their roles and the supporting cast really rounds out the movie and makes it worth watching. Some of the jokes are predictable, but then there at least two twists I didn't see coming. The movie was very satisfying, but I still wish there would have been a little bit more too it, even though I think it ran at almost 2 hours. I hope to see deleted scenes and a commentary featuring Tina and Amy when the movie gets released on DVD.
Oh, I have to mention that I enjoyed Romany Malco as the doorman, who gave some of the funniest lines in the movie. The audience I saw it with seemed to enjoy it, and someone squealed and snorted the whole way through. Maybe not a squealer, Baby Mama delivers full term laughs with a little bit of heart meaning you should go see it. It's still #5 at the box office too, so hopefully we will see Tina and Amy together again soon.
