Out of 10 how many do you follow?
There many bloggers who just write for personal satisfaction or just to earn money. Well there are many more that do it for both reasons. But how many of you aware of the basic guides must to follow to become successful blogger. You can follow it and get a standard or you can ignore it and become forgotten, it’s not the law you know. But I suggest try to follow, there is nothing but gaining here, and not so hard to follow.
1. Submit your blog to directories and registries, like Google, yahoo, msn, alexa etc.
2. Make use of free and inexpensive advertising tools, including blog traffic exchange communities (Non reciprocal). If you decide to advertise your site, either online or offline, make sure you prepare attention grabbing ad copy. Study the type of ads that attract you and see what makes them work. Example is always good way to start, when you are new.
3. Focus to provide quality content. Whatever the topic or style, popular blogs are always well written. Well Medias and graphics are also well preferred. Offer them if it’s relevant. Under any circumstances do not compromise your quality. That brings strength in your blogging.
4. Blog regularly in a frequency. If you don't update your blog often enough, blog readers will move on. There are too many blogs out there competing for attention. At least let your reader know when to expect your writings.
5. Target a definite type of reader and create content for them. This will give them reason to link back to your blog on an ongoing basis. Try not to become jack of all, do what you do best. For example, if you tend to write 'touchy-feely' and positive blog entries, your readers might be turned off if you start posting rants filled with expletives.
6. Think about keywords with your use of titles, links, bold words and blog posts. Search engines like Google, MSN take these things in to consideration, when calculating page rank. The more targeted your keywords, the better the chances of your blog appearing in search results. But don’t get carried away. Read my "Keyword" related post for details.
7. Participate in communities. Social networking plays an important role in blogging. Taking part in blog groups or bloggers meeting places, ex-technorati,dig,reddit etc.
8. Get responsive. Leave thoughtful comments (not just the 'Visit my blog!' type of comments, that will be consider as spam) and try to respond to emails.
9. Mention your blog anywhere you possibly can - in your email signature, in forums, in your business card, in chat etc.
10. Make sure you set your blog to ping blog tracking sites like Weblogs.com, google blog search every time you make an update. and use feedburner that lets you send ping to 15 different directories automatically.
