California Carrot Juice Recall

There are two cases of botulism in the Toronto area that could be related to the carrot juice recalled earlier this week. The recall took place after four people fell ill in the U.S.
The cases of botulism in the U.S. resulted from carrot juice produced by Bolthouse Farms in Bakersfield, Calif. they distributes throughout the U.S., Canada and Mexico, the company's website revealed. The U.S. patients remain in serious condition, on ventilators.
Symptoms start within 18 -36 hours and include blurred vision, paralysis, slurred speech and problems swallowing. but an anti-toxin can reverse the effects if administered early enough. However, if a patient is experiencing paralysis, the damage is already done.
People have a decent chance to recover but it can take months, If they make it off the ventilator they have a decent chance, but it does take months.
Low-acid vegetables, such as carrots, mushrooms and asparagus are more likely to grow botulism bacteria
