Mind Games

November 9th 2008 23:01
I think maintaining a sharp mind is the bottom line to maintaining total health. The brain is a formidable organ that controls everything from body function, thinking, memory, etc., and nobody can really explain how it works! The complexity of the brain is ever evolving and changing.

Anyway in today's sites we will use random sites that may help keep the mind sharp through games and exercises.

Brainbashers gives a variety of brain teasers and exercises. Puzzles, games, etc., even the front page has some amazing teasers!

Brainden is another site that will stimulate your brain power.

Braingle is yet another site to sharpen your brain.

Syvum brings the dreaded math into brain teasing!

BrainConnection is yet another site that challenges the mind and brain!

Brain Teasers is another way to challenge your mind.

Sharp Brains is a Top 50 Brain Teaser games.

I personally love crossword puzzles as a great brain stimulator.
Here's an interesting one. Here's another one!

Urban Legends

October 23rd 2008 23:24
During the time of the 9/11 attacks there were rumors and gossip being spread so much that you didn't know what to believe. That's when I found Snopes.com that clarified many rumors of that time and beyond. You can find 9/11 rumors in Rumors Of War. Snopes uses color keys to describe various categories to the rumors. These are under: true, false, multiple truths, undetermined, and unclassifiable veracity.

Here's more Urban Legends. Not even another urban legend site is free from rumor. One rumor has even attacked Snopes.com.

Here's a really good urban legend site. Truth or Fiction seems to be an urban legend authority.

In case we don't know what an urban legend is!

Here's an urban legend and superstition site.

Now I have been following various CRACKED lists of the truly weird for sometime now. Here is a list of 5 creepy urban legends that are true!

In conclusion, check out Scam Busters!

Birds of a feather like to hang together. Social sites and networking are becoming popular on the internet with MySpace and others. Now come the specialty sites. The sites that are not for everyone. Here are some of my choices:

If you're a Baby Boomer, or a Generation Jones(?), you will like BOOMj. It lets you connect and shop while you earn discount points.

Nothing like being a motorhead and talking about everything that is cars. CarGurus is a social network for you.

Love food and love to eat? Eats.com is for you.

Selling your music may be tough if you're trying to make a record. Sellaband may advance your musical career.

If you love hamsters and other rodents, Hamsterster is for you. That isn't too weird, is it?

Questions and predictions? Join ZiiTrend the social prediction community.

Here's a site where you pay-to-play, but get nothing in return. That is the basic idea behind My Free Implants! Men finance plastic surgery for under-endowed women. It is perfectly legit, btw.

Well what do you know, they even have a site for me. Social Anxiety Friends is a perfect place to torture, and be tortured by the socially anxious!

Here's one where only the beautiful need apply. Perhaps they never heard of photoshop, or airbrush for that matter. But you must be deemed worthy to enter Beautiful People.

Didn't find a social network for yourself? Well relax because Ning lets you create your own social network!

The Thousand Mile Journey

September 26th 2008 23:05
So this is one of those sites that gives sites that I deem useful. Lets go to a vast array of useful sites. Some I like and some I don't.

When I was new to the internet, I found sites that were fascinating at the annual Webby Awards. They offer various sites in a variety of category. It's nice to go back and see how many sites have survived or are still around today!
