When it comes to skincare, prevention is always better than cure. Learn what are the simple preventive skincare stuff which involves the balance of nutrients into your skin that feed and nourishes it.
Eating healthy and right is what makes you a cut above the rest. Here are a few of those simple foods that I suggest:
• Omega-3 Fatty Acids: Its an essential fat which focuses on the walls of your epidermal cells to lock in moisture aside from the fact that it also helps your brain boosts its cognitive powers. Research has proven that those who have higher intake of omega-3 or omega-6 fats have faster recovery rate from exposure to ultraviolet light. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone: keeps your skin looking soft and smooth and protects it from the dangers of excessive sunlight. Foods that are rich in omega-3 are sardines, flaxseed, salmon and walnuts.
• Beta-Carotene: Beta-carotene when digested can be absorbed by your skin. It fills in the blotches and gives it a healthy glow. It also aids your skin from aging against sun damage. Foods that are rich in beta-carotene are sweet potatoes, red grapefruit, carrots, red bell peppers.
• Monounsaturated Fat: 50% of the calories found in avocado or also known as alligator pear is monounsaturated fat. People with high intake of olive oil have fewer wrinkles than people with high intake of butter, why? Because olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fat. It also helps in keeping your skin youthful and smooth. Food rich in monounsaturated fat are peanut butter, almonds, olive oil and avocado. Though I prefer almonds because its one of my favorite nuts (hahahaha).
• Isoflavones: A potent antioxidant found to have high concentration in legumes. According to an Australian research, people found with higher intake of legumes alongside with vegetables and healthy fats have 20% fewer wrinkles. Beats the top selling creams right? Food rich in isoflavones are tofu, alfalfa, chickpeas, lentils, peanuts, black beans, and soy beans.
• Polyphenol: An antioxidant known to prevent heart attack and stroke. This also helps in keeping skin firm by improving its elasticity. It strengthens the inner most layer of the skin which is the collagen. Food rich in polyphenols are grape juice, grapes and blueberries.
• H2O: Yes! Its water. It helps moisturize the skin and locks it in. It helps prevent dry skin Drinking about 3-4 liters of it daily will give you softer than baby’s butt skin. Food rich in water are watermelon, peaches and celery.
Although I have given a few listings here, it’s not the limited. Go back to your primary lessons about Food Pyramid. It’s all listed there. Have a healthy life everyone!
