Orble team moves into web design

July 30th 2007 07:08
The Orble team is now moving into web design (for other people that is).

The company is called Vimu and we've set up a simple website with more info.

So if you know anyone who needs a website please let them know about us! If good will is not enough we also offer a 5% commission on any referred work.

Thanks,
Jon.

New Post Summary Format

July 30th 2007 06:43
There is a new post format called "Compact" which can be chosen on your blog's modify page under the Format section. You can see an example of it on Hunt Famous.

However if you get much search engine traffic I would hold off on changing to this format for the moment as it reduces the amount of text on the category pages. When I get a chance I'll create another "tile" format for the just the blog's front page which should solve this problem.

Thumb Cropping

July 27th 2007 02:04

There is now some control over how images are cropped for the thumbnails used on the Orble home page and on some blog homepages like Fashion.

You can choose from Top, Bottom, Left, Right, and Center which is the current default. These options can be found on the image upload screen.

Let me know if there are any bugs or suggestions.

Thanks,
Jon.

Google Referrals

July 27th 2007 00:02
Hi Everyone,

I've implemented a Beta version of the Google Referral system on Orble. I'm currently experimenting to see if it increases revenue on a number of blogs, however you can experiment as well

New Orble Email Address

July 6th 2007 02:25
I think the problem with some email notifications not getting through was caused by the orble.com domain being used by spammers. Evidently they use "trusted" email addresses which send out lots of emails every day in order to get past a number of filters at the email handler and ISP level. This of course means that emails from orble.com become less trusted resulting in some emails being filtered out as spam depending on which route they take to get to your inbox.

Unfortunately there is nothing I can do about the spammers, unless I move to China and hunt them down one by one. So I've changed the email address which notification messages are send from to admin@orblemail.com. Hopefully this will fix the problem, until the spammers decide to start using this one as well. Perhaps they don't read the Orble News blog
