Blog domains hijacked !!

Well it's not quite that bad. We introduced another server to the Orble machine and a few domains (61) were moved to the wrong server! You will know it this has happened to you because a page will be displayed saying "Firerocket" or something similar.

This is being fixed as we speak and all the domains should be working properly again within the hour.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience.

On the upside we now have 5 Orble servers which should take quite a load so hopefully things will settle down.

Orble Server Downtime

The server was down last night from around 1am until I arrived at the office this morning and got it working again by 9.30 am AEST.

It looks like a technician at our hosting company decided to turn the server off after a momentary spike in traffic and forgot to turn it back on. Needless to say someone will be getting a talking to.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused anyone.

Also keep in mind that traffic stats will probably be a little down this morning as a result.

Stats Emails

There was a problem with the statistics reporting system over the weekend. You will have received two stats emails yesterday (Sunday) and today (Monday) -- the first one reporting zero traffic and the second email with the correct numbers.

The online numbers are also wrong. I'll have this corrected soon.

You can now specify text to appear at the top and/or bottom of every Post on your Blog.

Text at the top of your Blog

You can now put any text you like up the top of the homepage of your blog simply by creating a Post with the title "Blog Top Text".

An example can be seen on ZCars where Charles has set up a number of forums to act as Car classifieds. He has included a couple of links which will take people directly to the relevant URLs to either view cars for sale in their city or to sell their own car

New Blog Formats

there are a couple new blog formats for you to choose from on your blog's "Modify" page including one with a wider section for your actual posts.

Put a Forum (or two) on your Blog

Forums are here and are a great way to attract more people to your blog and create an active community.

They are still very much in beta but you can add Forums to your blog from my.orble.com. Click on "Create a new Blog" and fill out the form as usual (forums are just a kind of blog) except

Pay for link schemes

I've noticed a few bloggers have signed up to schemes which pay them to comment on and link to websites.

I think such schemes are a very very bad idea for two main reasons

Post Approval

You are now able to specify that all posts and/or comments need to be approved by you before they are posted on your blog. This is handy if you have set up liberal posting permissions.

To make the change go to your blog's "Modify" page and use the settings in the "Publication" section

Googlebot attack

Fewer Ad Formats

You can now choose blog formats with less ads on them an example being the Orble News blog!

Go to the "Modify" page for your blog and select one of the "Less Ads" formats

Orble Party
