New Blogger Checklist

So you've just started an Orble blog, what should I do now?

1) Read this BlogAdviser post to find out what to expect in terms of traffic from your Orble blog. Successful blogging requires patience and persistence so it's good to know what to expect from the very start.

2) Read all the posts on the Blogging Tips Blog. It will take you through how to use the Orble system properly.

3) Read Cubbuano's Blog. It has lots of good advice especially the post on copyright.

4) Make sure that you have read the Terms and Conditions of blogging on Orble.

5) Submit your first post.

6) Have a browse around Orble, see what other people are writing about and comment on some posts. Get involved! Also have a look at some other blogs for ideas on how to format your posts. Horrorphile.net is a good example.

7) If you want to receive your 50% advertising commission then you need to create your own Google AdSense account. First, go to https://www.google.com.au/adsense/ and click on "click here to apply". Fill out all the relevant fields, including your blog's URL. Of you do not yet have an Orble domain blog you can use www.orble.com. Once you have created an account, you then need to enter your AdSense ID on your Control Panel's AdSense Page.

If you have trouble creating an AdSense account read the FAQ.

8) Get everyone you know who has a website to link to your new blog. This will help give your site a high ranking on the search engines which can really help bring in the readers.

9) Update your profile and submit a posting image. To do this login to your Control Panel and click on the "My Profile" link.

10) Play with the look of your blog. You can do this by logging in to your Control Panel and clicking on the "Theme" link.

11) IMPORTANT: Do not click on any Google ads on your own blog or encourage others to do so. You will get your AdSense account banned and it's almost impossible to get it back. If you are interested in an ad type out the URL in your browser's address bar, don't click.

12) You will receive a daily email containing your blog's traffic statistics. Don't worry too much if your blog does not have many readers to start with. It can take up to six months for a new blog to establish a readership and to start attracting search engine traffic. Successful blogging requires patience and persistence.

13) Read the rest of the posts on BlogAdviser especially this post on Stable Topics.

14) Place the email address admin@orblemail.com into your contacts or address book, otherwise you may not receive your statistics reports. The especially applies to users of free email accounts such as Hotmail or Yahoo..

15) Please be aware that if you have a domain blog which is inactive (no new posts with significant content) for more than 60 days it may be assigned to another blogger.
