OOC of the Cowpokes
May 28th 2010 08:28
I AM DOING MY BEST NOT TO BE BIASED!!!!! That is the only disclaimer I shall give. Although I have been conditioned as an OU alumnus to hate Oklahoma State as the annoying little brothers that they are, I shall objectively analyze their OOC to continue this in-depth series.
So let's kick things off with the Cowboys' first game against Washington State.
To properly gauge how much of a cupcake opponent this foe is for the Cowboys, we need only look at the last time the Cougars were relevant. Please note the date. When you go to the Web site of WSU athletics, the first window that pops up is an ad promoting the ROWING TEAM!!!!
Besides the fact that their fans have developed a stalkerish attitude toward College Gameday, WSU is pretty much off the map.
The Crusader's Call: The team that went 1-11 and finished last in the Pac-10 last year won't stand a chance in Stillwater. Easy 1-0 start.
So who's next? Oh yeah....Troy.
Just....no. Just....just....no. This match-up, if you could call it that, isn't even worth analyzing.
The Crusader's Call: I plead the fifth. 2-0.
PLEASE have a better third one.....wait....TULSA?!
Don't get me wrong, Tulsa is one of the better teams in the Conference-USA, but still finished with a losing record last year, ending up behind the likes of Houston and SMU, despite having this "prolific" offense.
No matter what, they are that team in the state of Oklahoma that is third-rung, the team that people scratch their heads and say "wait there's a team in Oklahoma ASIDE from OU and OSU?"
They were shown off very much as the kid brother team after OU shut them out in Norman last year.
The Crusader's Call: And the trend continues. 3-0.
FINALLY an away game! I bet it's somewhere challenging and go......LOUISIANA-LAFAYETTE?!
You have a chance to show off that national prominence you're trying to achieve....and you choose to have an away game THERE?!?!
Crusader's Call: They're called the Ragin' Cajuns, COME ON!!! 4-0.
I never thought I'd say this, but I am disappointed in my alma mater's in-state rival. For a team that wants to prove they're national title material, and for a team that in recent years has become a perennial dark horse in the Big 12 South, they sure as heck aren't doing themselves any favors with this cakewalk of a schedule. Congrats, Cowboys, you made it through undefeated this OOC season, but at what cost?
I'll tell you what cost. 2 OUT OF 5 STARS. You should have done better.
Thoughts?
