Awake and Alive Tour

November 30th 2009 01:49

Skillet, Decyfer Down, Hawk Nelson and The Letter Black put on a great show last night. The Letter Black started the show with four of their songs. This new band is going to go a long way! If you have ever heard Flyleaf, you should check out this band.

The concert itself lasted four hours, including set changes, which was well worth the sixth row, $25 ticket. Every band was very into their performance. All the band members when headbanging and feeding off of the audience's energy.

When Skillet came on, the screaming didn't stop. They brought along two talented men who played the cello and violin with the band. They had a cool stage setup with fog machines and lights galore. If you are interested in rock music at all, I would recommend seeing any of these bands in concert.

Be prepared to stand the whole time if you attend a concert with these bands. Everyone in the audience was jamming out to the songs and enjoying themselves. Also, the bands made themselves available to fans during intermissions! I walked away with three autographs and some pictures.

Birthday Song

November 27th 2009 02:53
Today is my birthday so I thought that I would share what song I have chosen as my birthday song. Although I am not a huge fan of Miley Cyrus, her song "Every Part of Me" is the one I chose. Now, it may sound kind of sad, but it has different meaning for me.

This year was hard and I went down a lot of paths that made me feel far away from myself. Over the past few months, I have taken a lot of steps to get back on track and I haven't been so happy in a long time. My real self has always been there and that's what this song is saying.

The chorus says "maybe I will never be who I was before, maybe I don't even know her anymore." I am always changing, as everyone else is. I look back and see a girl who struggled with stress, but I can't see that girl anymore. I'm no longer that individual. I have changed for the better and it has made my life so much more positive.

I love how music reaches into your soul sometimes and allows you to reflect on all aspects of your life. That's exactly what this song did. Everything I have done in my life has helped me become who I am today. It's "Every Part of Me."

Parachute Knows Just How to Calm Me

November 16th 2009 22:36
Talk about a great band! Parachute's gentle melodies and soothing voices make me want to listen to them for hours upon end. Their song "She is Love" is so beautiful, and has been on my repeat list for the past few days.

If you're looking for some music to relax to, then this band is just for you! Their lyrics are very heartfelt and make you feel happy inside. I discovered this band when I was sitting in Red Lobster eating lunch the other day. I remember feeling very relaxed when "She is Love" came over the speakers.

I immediately came home and looked them up. They haven't received a super amount of radio play, but I expect this band to make a huge breakthrough in the near future. This is perfect music for both guys and girls, so you'll be sure to find something you like.

Their album is available on iTunes for only $6.99, or you can get the deluxe edition for $3 more. It's definitely worth the money!

Concert Reflections

November 7th 2009 19:58
Three weeks from today I will be attending the Awake and Alive Tour to celebrate my 21st birthday. This tour features Skillet, Decyfer Down, Hawk Nelson, and The Letter Black. I'm looking forward to hearing every band, and I'm sure that I will not have a voice after that concert.

This upcoming event has brought back concert memories for me, such as mosh pitting my way to the front row at the Yellowcard concert for my 16th birthday. I left with a few bruises, but also with one of their guitar picks! Talk about a good time... it was definitely a night to remember

The Best Break Up Song Ever

November 6th 2009 02:56
Before you think this is going to be a rant about some angry chick music, stop right there. The song I'm about to introduce to you is sung by a group of amazing guys. Don't worry girls, the lyrics work for you, too.

Alright, now that I've got your attention, check out a rising band called Safetysuit. You may recognize these guys from their hit single "Stay" that has been on the radio for the past few months. But the song I'd like to focus on is titled "The Moment

New Beginnings

November 5th 2009 21:35
It wasn't more than a year ago that I had my life figured out... I was one year away from graduating college and was ready to conquer the world. I had plans to find a home and get a job in public relations.

But here I am a year later, taking time off college and away from everyone I know. It's not like it's a bad thing; in fact, I've found that my true passion in life is to help people and to write. I may have lived in three states in the past 12 months, but all these adventures and changes have turned out to be the best things for me
