This Book Changed MY Life

September 28th 2006 11:31
There are many of us. We look about and see not a world of carnal pleasures nor one created for the sole purpose of sustaining human life; we see a world where human creatures rape the Earth without mercy. Many walk about oblivious or they comfort themselves by sorting their recycling, patting themselves on the back for a job well done - 'yes - I AM making a contribution.'
Ishmael is a book that voices the feelings of the minority - the ones who feel as though they live in a world of zombies who live the way they've always been taught - rarely questioning anything - or anything worth questioning at least.

Sydney Wildlife World

September 25th 2006 10:33
I'm usually in two minds about Wildlife Parks. On the one hand they help to preserve and spearhead the breeding of endangered species, on the other - it's very sad to see once magnificent creatures relegated to the position of 'entertainment' for the masses.
Sydney Wildlife World has spent a lot of time and money developing their facility. The habitats have been painstakingly recreated and the climate control is second to none. One can watch Koalas sleeping atop twenty foot trees and come face to face with a Cassowary. Get as close as you ever will to a King Brown or Taipan and get up close and personal with a Lace Monitor or a Thorny Devil. Check out the Insectarium and spend some time with a redback or bird-eating spider. Peruse a Possum or watch a Wallaby but sooner or later you'll be asking: 'who's watching who?'

Orangutans Wiped Out

September 13th 2006 07:26
Orangutans in Borneo are being treated as less the sacred and beautiful beings they are and more like an inconvenience. Even worse than that they are often tortured and killed. The most stomach turning thing to come out of this dire situation is the account of a female Orangutan tied to a bed and repeatedly raped by dozens of men - how can people do this?
