One Direction "Gotta Be You"

A big welcome back to the Boy Band!

Although all members of the group auditioned individually of the 2010 season of The X Factor UK, it was at the suggestion of guest judge Nicole Scherzinger (she was filling in for Dannii Minogue) that the five form a group and audition. They not only won over the judges, the public loved them too (especially that of the tween girls!) and eventually ended up coming third!

As Simon Cowell was their mentor on the show, they were immediately signed to his record label, and their debut single “What Makes You Beautiful” topped the UK Singles chart and is currently burning up the Australian charts and radio playlists!

Second single “Gotta Be You” follows the traditional boy band formula of releasing a fun pop song followed by heartbreaking pop ballad, as the boys pull our heart strings with this really lovely song of love lost.

As a huge fan of all of the 90s boy bands (I’m also loving the reforming of these bands and the music that they are currently making, especially Take That!), I’m really glad to see a return of the boy band with The Wanted and One Direction. I think that all of these guys have got such great voices and they are so natural on camera! It such a shame they are so ugly! Haha!

One Direction’s album Up All night will be released in Australia on November 25, 2011, with the album released in the UK on November 21, 2011.

Check out the video for “Gotta Be You” below and make sure you let me know what you think!
