Dig it, the drama Queen
September 10th 2006 07:53
I like drama, I don't know about you, but I think that without a bit of crazy, life's just too boring - and I just couldn't have that EVER!
Of course there are varying degrees of drama and the tragic type is never nice BUT - a bit o gossip, a bit of evil, and a pinch of bitchy goes a long long way.
One of my favourite places for this is the office. You really have to shake up your work day and stop 'copping it sweet'. You know, stand up for yourself, don't skirt around people and try to keep the peace - disturb it, stand your ground,Of course there are varying degrees of drama and the tragic type is never nice BUT - a bit o gossip, a bit of evil, and a pinch of bitchy goes a long long way.
Respect
Friends
Enemies
Fired
A pay rise
Some enjoyment.
I believe they are all worth while causes, and I say this because I have experienced them first hand. And i will also say: having enemies is more fun than you realise.
But really, creating drama - or not giving in to 'demand' can really show you other people's true colours - especially if it is something that is generally out of character for you....try this tip for example:
One of my favourite peices of advice is acting deaf...or dumb.
If you find yourself in the office suck position (you know the helpy-helperton who'll lend a hand anywhere) then pretend you don't get it when you are asked/told to do something...it can really work a treat. People will be so confused and thrown off they will start to do things for themselves - wouldn't that be something!
Or if you want to be nice about it just say "oh I really can't" no reason why.
That will freak them out even more and the 'asker' will be forced to deduce that you have something important to do; are important; or are impudent.
So start your working week with that in mind...I will...in fact tomorrow I'm tryng a new experiement - Stress Advertisement. The Stress Advertisement is the process of advertising how important and busy and 'potentially' stressed you are. You must do this without being whiney or flappy (people will just thing you're a pussy), you need to communicate that you are doing lots and it is all important - AS ARE YOU.
What I hope to acheive:
I shouldn't get any new tasks assigned to me, people will leave me alone AND the ultimate goal here is task transference...where people feel I shouldn't have so much to do and offer take something off my hands!
Fingers crossed hey

Does drama have to involve conflict?

Over the top drama, serious drama and ridiculous borderline drama that's more hilarity than drama.
So I guess conflict can then be described in those ways - you know the varying degrees.
And as far as the conflict goes it doesn't need to be negative, just opposing of opinions or ideas.
You've made me think now.
Damn!
But thank you
