NRL Referee Ben Cummins Survives
www.nrl news.com
After a terrible referee performance in last weeks NRL Round 8 clash between the Parramatta Eels and Penrith Panthers, somehow first grade referee Ben Cummins has remained in the top grade - and will be officiating in the Melbourne Storm home game against the Newcastle Knights at Olympic Park on Monday Night Football.
How can a first grade referee such as Ben Cummins, retain his spot after such a poor performance?
Referee's Boss Robert Finch must surely be unable to push another referee into the top grade, otherwise Cummins (nicknamed Diesel) would have most certainly been dropped.
With NRL Results so critical these days, a poor referee performance in the NRL such as this - has cost Penrith dearly. Coach Matt Elliott did well not to unleash on the referee, I think the fact that the referee was attacked by someone after the game - with a 'missile' or a rubber football thrown at his head made many feel sorry for the referee and many weren't keen on rubbishing his performance after he copped the physical shclacking.
Anyway, its mind boggling the NRL have kept him in the top grade. Lets see how he performs this week with his Rugby League job certainly being watched closely by many.
