NRL Canberra Raiders get Joel Monaghan back for Round 13 game against Eels
June 7th 2008 05:37
The Canberra Raiders were today boosted for their Round 13 NRL clash with the Parramatta Eels, securing boom centre and flanker Joel Monaghan for the crunch game after his brief stint in the NSW State of Origin camp as a shadow player for Mark Gasnier.
Monaghan will no doubt be frustrated not to have been a part of the State of Origin Game 2 Squad, but is reportedly pumped to help the Raiders to an away win against a desperate Parramatta Eels outfit who need to win to stay in touch with the Top 8 teams after a patchy start to the 2008 NRL season.
The Eels are without Jarryd Hayne after he was suspended for 3 weeks, for hammering Toni Carroll in the Brisbane Broncos game - but the Eels do have strong centre Kris Inu back for the game and prominent pivot Feliti Mateo is playing extremely well in the halves with Brett Finch at the current time.
The Eels are only 4 wins this season and it's the 2 x Byes that have helped them stay in touch, a loss tonight would see them really falter badly as the NRL 2008 Rugby League season moves past the halfway mark.
