In breaking news last week former Wests Tigers star Anthony Laffranchi was called to face charges over alleged sexual assault charges.
The incident is said to have occurred in former team-mate Todd Paytons Five Dock unit some 6 months ago after a late night outing.
In response to the charges, former Wests Tigers star Laffranchi has said there was consensual sex that took place between a girl he had taken home from a Sydney City Nightspot.
Laffranchi has recently relocated to Queensland with his family to take up a position with the new Gold Coast Titans football team.
To make matters worse Laffranchi was recently married and had just seen the birth of his first child around the time of the alleged assault. (See Photo)
With such a media storm surrounding him and his young family, his wife came out in staunch defence of her husband - stating for media reporters and TV cameras that she will not only stand by her man, but he is "The best dad ever and a special person"
These comments startled many observers, if we assume for a moment he is innocent - however it's one thing to stand by your man for infidelity, however to come out and say such glowing references is simply astounding.
What is your view? Should Laffranchi's wife have been so staunch in defence? Would she be skinning him alive in private? How would you expect the outcome to be?
