Not 55 Again
June 27th 2008 02:01
I remember the bad old days when we all had to drive 55, supposedly to save gas. Only it didnt work that way for all cars. Calif. still makes trucks drive 55 and causes more problems than it solves. Considering it doesnt solve any problems.Imagine going down the road at 65 or 70, cruising along, and theres a big truck in front of you, going 55. It pisses some people off and they honk when they get a chance to pass. Some flip you off. Some of the idiots pass where it isnt safe and cause wrecks. Oh yeah. 55 works just ducky.
Now the same idiots that made us go 55 before are talking about it again. Everywhere this time. That was a stupid idea before and it still is. I get paid by the mile, like most truckers. the more miles we drive the better money we make. Slow us down to 55 everywhere and we dont make as much. The trucks dont go as far and have to be kept on the road 24/7 to keep the company in business. No one driver can do that. We have to sleep sometimes, ya know. So the companies will have to hire more drivers, run teams and none of us will make as much. The companies will be paying more for drivers and have to charge more to move the loads. How would you like 5 dollar a loaf cheap bread? Or maybe 10 dollars a pound for hamburger? It could happen.
Instead of drilling for more oil, the dummycrats think wind and solar power will save us from more inflation. Hey dummycrats! My truck runs on diesel, not wind and not sunshine! They dont mind paying more for everything and they dont give a damn how many people get laid off when the smaller trucking companies go out of business with their stupid 55. What a bunch of assholes!
