NLCS 2008: Game 3 Phils lead series 2-0
October 12th 2008 23:56
Games 1 & 2
The Phillies held true to their record during the regular season as they swept the Dodgers in the first two games of the NLCS this year. The Citizen witnessed a great game from Cole Hamels and big homers from Chase Utley and Pat "The Bat" Burrell. Game 2, as predicted by this blogger, the X-factor Brett Myers showed up, but not as predicted. He pitched a decent game but had a monster night at the plate with two huge two out hits that produced three runs. The Dodgers couldn't get consistent production from their line up and didnt really threaten late in either game. Brad Lidge also looks to have regained his form before the monster Albert Pujols postseason home run in 2005.
Game 3
Jamie Moyer starts for the Phillies and Hideki Kuroda goes on the bump for the Dodgers. Moyer is 1-3 at Dodger stadium and Kuroda was 7-2 this year while at home. He had a very good outing recently against the Phillies, limiting a very potent offense to a batting average against of .095! If the Dodgers can follow Manny's lead (he's hitting .444 this postseason with 3 bombs), then they always have a chance. Moyer is a veteran and I dont expect this atmosphere to bother him. I look for the crowd to pump up the Dodgers and a big game from Matt Kemp or James Loney.
Prediction
I look for the Dodgers to ride a good game from Kuroda to a much needed win. They can not afford to split with the Phillies and go back east down 3-1.
