New Zealand actually DOES have lots of sheep!
After my normal drama`s of getting through Immigration (Yep I got detained this time too!) we arrived in New Zealand 5 days ago and it all seems to have been a flash and a blur. Christchurch was very pretty - such a mix of old and new and rounded off perfectly with the World Buskers Championships floating off the streets. An amazing array of bright flowers are scattered through out the city and around what seems to be every corner, are tree-lined parks just begging for you to lie under their shady trees. The lazy line of the River Avon curves through the buildings, glimpses of punters pushing their dreamy eyed clients along the shallow water in their flat bottom boats.
Bon Jovi was just amazing - what more can I say? The stadium was HUGE and crowded with adoring fans, us sitting right up the front and screaming and singing along with the others. I can`t believe I am about to say this but - Robbie Williams ain`t got NUFINK on these guys! They were incredible! And my voice is only just coming back now after 2 days!
Our little car is getting us where we need to be going. The scenery is so dramatic, water so blue and the peace and quiet so... well peaceful and quiet. I have marked various spots along the way for my log cabin. And yes - there really ARE a lot of sheep. A heck of a lot of sheep.
Last night was our first night in a campervan. We arrived 5 minutes after the supermarket closed and were in a tiny town so dined on delicous undercooked pasta, extremely sweet canned tomato stuff and blocks of cheese raided from the corner shop. Out of a saucepan. That we had to share as the plates are so manky in the van. Today we have stopped at every fruit and veg stand we have driven past for fresh produce, bought new cutlery and got enough water to last a week. We learnt and we learnt quickly!
We finally got the bed all worked out and made it up and were settled in when I decided that I needed more air. I HAVE to have lots of air and there was no way there was even near enough for me in the little box. Open the sliding door, round the front in the dark, unlock the drivers door, turn the car on, open the windows, just locking up.... just happen to glance into the back... just happen to see a SPIDER on the ceiling above where my bed is. Now the fun begins! Neither of us are willing to kill it, neither of us are willing to trap it - so we just stared at it for about half an hour. I think we were willing it to vanish.... or walk out the door. Finally, after about an hour and many, many shivers we managed to get it out.
Now ... are there any more? All bugs around New Zealand have been sent a memo - back away from the vehicle. STAY AWAY IF YOU DON~T WANNA GET HURT! You just don`t belong in their with us, ya know? And what happens if you become attached - we are going to be leaving soon, it`s just not fair on the emotions.
Unfortunately I cannot osmiotically (is that a word?) transfer any photos onto the computer in this place. In fact we are in the middle of the sticks here, I`m surprised they even have computer to be honest! But there are some crackers for whenever I can - if you haven`t been to New Zealand before I would suggest you do it... do it now!
Now I need to go anc check my bed.... alll bugs beware - here comes thr crazy lady and she means BUSINESS!
Have a good week folks!

Hope the bugs receive your vibes, I've only come across dot-sized creatures in my two days of Rome so far which seemed very non-threatening.
I'm not surprised the peace and quiet in NZ suits you...
Who are you traveling with? (I'm never sure whether to spell it traveling or travelling.)
SPIDERS DO NOT RULE WHATEVER COUNTRY THEY ARE IN... i hear we have fiordflies to contend with next.... yikes!!!!!

Oh Gosh, this sounds like me *HAHAHAHAH* I have a huge huntsman in my bedroom somewhere atm and for the life of me I can't catch him... he's just too big, so I'm sleeping each night on a prayer that he doesn't come near.
I am sooooo looking forward to your pickies ... I haven't been there yet, but I have heard tell it is a FABULOUS place!
