New Year Goal: Financial Improvement & Higher Income
January 1st 2012 20:05
2011 ended financially just as it started with respect to not having enough money, medical challenges, and loss of family income. We're still accumulating unpaid or unpayable bills, although I had hoped to have turned things around or have gotten a second job by now.
I have, however, made a few small but important steps in a positive direction and am grateful for that. For example, one of my credit credits is finally back on track. I also have a small one that I've caught up and some other bills and a payday loan that have been paid up or paid off.
As far as my second job applications have gone, I've been on two interviews but didn't get those jobs. I think it may have been because I was overqualified. However, it's just as well since the transportation and related issues would have been really very tough to work around, even though I was ready to accept either of the jobs.
Anyway, I do still have my full-time job and I just got a small raise. It's not much, but it's higher than usual and I was the only one of all my bosses' employees as well as the only one in our entire department who got it. I really appreciated my boss' help in getting it for me, especially as I hadn't asked since things are so tight everywhere in our non-profit agency.
So now I have to get my paperwork all together to finally enroll in the debt management program; I don't even know if I can afford it, but, at this point, I can't procrastinate and have to try.
Once I do hopefully enroll, I'm seriously going to try to do some freelancing again. It appears that if no one will give me the chance I need to increase my income, I'm going to have to create an opportunity for myself. However, I'll start looking at my options for doing this after I finish the last steps on managing my debt situation.
While I'm doing that, I wish everyone a Happy New Year and good health, happiness, and success. And, If you're having financial challenges like me, I wish you improving conditions and increasing income as well.
