'New Racing Cycle'
January 13th 2007 23:41
Hello everyone
Sorry I haven't been online for a couple of days but have been very busy work wise and with a few other things. But thought I would share some comments about the latest bike I now have.
This is the first time I have had a bike like this, i currently have an older style racing bike, which I use for work and when it's wet but have been looking for something a bit better.
Saw this on Trade Me and managed to buy it for $600, guess they would cost $1200 new, 2004 model Giant OCR3, and only done about 387kms or that was what it showed on the speedo.
The bike is a dream to ride, went for my first real ride yesterday about 40kms in total and it was a blast! Hit about 42kms an hour along some parts but coming home was a bit tougher, strong head wind all the way home. Now incase anyone is wondering about the spotted top I am wearing? Well this is the official 'King of the Mountain' top as used in The Tour de France.
A friend bought it in the official shop in Paris but is no longer able to ride so sold all his stuff to me, which was very nice. So I will have to get some training in around the Port Hills.
Although yesterday had a nice lady in a four wheel drive, jump an obvious red light, so thanks very much love for that!!
Weather has turned nice today in the garden city and planning a mtb ride around Bottlelake Forest this arvo. People living in Christchurch will be aware of this but for people living over seas, it's fab!!
Above piccy was taken along one of the tracks within the forest and for people living overseas, you don't what you are missing and if you live in Chch and have a bike, then come for a ride sometime as there are many tracks, with new ones being built or up graded all the time.
Other news, been busy with job interviews, had two come out of the blue on Wed last week, one had an interview on Thurs and got one coming up on Tues, so will be good as always a learning curve.
Anyway the outside is calling so better clean bike before this arvo and do boring stuff like have lunch and then food shopping, as if you food shop after you have eaten then you don't tend to spend as much.
thought for the day 'There is more to life than increasing speed' Mahatma Gandhi
Have a great day where ever you are
