New Atheism and Its True Colors
June 26th 2009 17:22
In our multicultural societies today we are all educated about tolerance. It seems that intolerance and racism are still showing its ugly head among us. It is also getting out of control, in that not submitting to ones point of view is considered intolerance. Hypocrisy is a strong force in the reversal of racism in out 'tolerant' society.
I do not push my beliefs on others and I appreciate the same consideration. If I believe in God, for instance, I am not tolerated by the Atheists. They will argue that religion is the cause of societies' problems today. Perhaps they are right, but what they neglect to say is that one can believe in God and not be part of any religious group. They become intolerant because I don't believe in their beliefs...remember that last line because it applies to anybody in any group or belief.
Some don't believe in God, and that is fine. But why should you not tolerate because I do? Many intolerant groups are making themselves look like the victim against those who don't agree with them, or their cause, or their agenda.
Most of us live in a Free Country and combined with the freewill given by God, or nature, we are running know-it-alls. Just like Orwell's Animal Farm where all united to fight the common enemy, then some became the enemy, that's how most function. Once through ignorance the masses persecuted the 'different', now the 'different' through knowledge persecute the masses that once persecuted them!
If all this diatribe seems like pure dribble to you, I respect your opinion, even though I don't agree. Tolerance and racism is a two-way street.
Who's intolerant?...this is a great example...
Me because I totally disagree with Peta and their beliefs, but continue to go on with my life and let them continue to spew their foolishness?
OR
Peta who totally disagrees with my beliefs and wants me to conform to theirs?
If you don't want to believe in God, or nature, or anything above the senses, that's fine with me. Tolerance like respect has to be earned. You can't hold me responsible for what my beliefs, ancestors, people, neighborhood, city, county, state, country, hemisphere, or planet did to you or your great, great, great grandfather!
