New Airline Order

Most competitors are in cahoots with each other. This is just an industry scam to keep a profitable outcome as a whole. When I worked in the rent-a-car industry, Hertz and Avis and National would exchange notes on business ventures and crush any minor competition that came their way. They knew when they were out of cars and send business to their competitors. That's just the way it is so all would profit in someway.
The airline industry is just as notorious and underhanded. Many think that there will be only one or two US carriers that will serve the US and the world. Don't believe it? Have you notice that what one does they all do? Aside from the soft drink charge by US Airways that was a fiasco, most major carriers charge for luggage and other things, while others find subtle and creative ways to charge unexpected fees that can add up.
US Air attempted a failed hostile takeover of Delta. Now they have found a way to be profitable with each other. This is followed by the most unlikely partners following suit!
This is a good idea for the airlines but not the air traveler. All this cooperation will lead to the consumer paying the price by cutting competition as a whole.
Unlike US Airways that was 'purchased' by America West in a bankruptcy buy-out , SouthWest shows how it's done. AWA called the LCC purchase a merger and kept the US Airways name. This of course created various problems among the pilots who are now part of two unions due to internal problems among the airline. LUV, on the other hand, will keep the SouthWest name and they make no apologies that Frontier will be a purchase not a merger. It plans to replace the Airbus fleet with good old American-made Boeing that is a WN trademark. SWA pilots are some of the highest paid in the business which would be a step-up for Frontier.
Only time will tell what the airlines are up to as a whole. Most claim poverty but find ways to generate millions.
