Monday April 27 kicked off Sydney Australia's fashion week and I must say that it stepped out with a big 'BANG', literally. You've probably already heard of the big "black out", darkness, etc. that occurred at Fashion Week. Apparently, all lights went out during the event. I've seen so many fashion news articles about Sydney's fashion week, very few about the actual fashions though. The black out has toppled the reason for fashion week in the media. It definitely outshined the gorgeous models in their gorgeous couture, rtw and swim wear.
Great example above! What I wouldn't give to have a tummy like that again. Australia's hottest in premier designers stepped out to strut their fashion stuff at fashion week. One of their premier designers, Camilla and Marc was a show stopping, breath taking duo. Mostly showcasing layer's and cuts, Camila and Marc is rapidly building their brand into a recognizable, eye popping line, not just in Australia but around the fashion world.
This picture is picture from backstage at the event. Who knew modeling was so much fun(like everyone).
I am asking all of my sister's, brother's in Christ and every citizen, to please pray for our countries' leadership, including the nationwide police departments. While driving, I heard a very disappointing story released on a local gospel music station. Michael Jacobs, a mentally ill young men who lived in Ft. Worth, TX, recently died at the hands of what is suspected to be excessive police abuse/force. He lived w/his parents. He had been diagnosed as being Bipolar. Bipolar is an emotional condition, where it's patients find it difficult to control their emotions, which are often unbalanced. On this particular occasion, Michael was unruly and raging with his parents, who then called Welfare and police seeking help for her son, hoping that they would send a medic or ambulance who would then take him to a local mental facility, which in turn would hopefully provide him medication or mental help to calm his raging.
The ambulance and Ft.Worth PD both arrived. The police knew that this young man was mentally unstable, but in turn sent the medic away. After that, they proceeding to wrestle with him, no handcuffs were placed, Mind you, he was 5 foot 5 and weight 140 lbs. It's also noted that 4 to 5 police officers were present. I'm guessing that they were not able to subdue him(hmm.) They proceeding to taze him 4 or more times. After his mom shouted, 'please stop your killing my baby', one of the officers stepped forward towards her, while touching his gun, stating, 'please step back ma'm.' He laid there, not breathing. A medic was still not called until after Michael's father stated that 'I think he's not breathing'. By the time that the medic returned, he was dead. A investigation is currently being done. The Ft.Worth police has yet to send any rep to the Jacob's family to apologize or anything. Everything is seeming to be on the hush-hush.
My prayer is for this family, that the lord will heal them of their pain through their mourning. I could only imagine, witnessing the death of my young son in such as manner.
Also, my prayer is that the Ft. Worth police department and city council is made more accountable for treatment of potential detanee's and of it's citizens. My prayer is also that the officer's implicated is convicted and issue public apologies to this family. Also, that they receive counseling. Many citizens of the Black community of Ft. Worth is calling for the resignation of the police implicated. My prayer is that the will of the Father is completed. A similar situation happened in Westington, a Upper class, white community of Ft. Worth and the Ft. Worth pd handled it much different than they are handling it with Michael Jacob and his family. Racism is still in America. We have a black president, but there is still racism present, and sad to say, its in our law enforcement. I pray that this country will come to a point, bridge, where each citizen is actually treated equally.
God Bless
The term 'shread's' is not always mentioned in a context of good. This time, it's 'great'! A fashion fav, jeans, are now back to shread's, worn and torn. The holey jean is back and in full effect. The fashion runways are burning up with models strutting their stuff in everything from the skinny jean to the boot cut jean, but only with the common denominator of 'holes, rips, shread's and wornage.' Designer's ranging from Diesal to American Eagle are opting to make this old but new trend apart of their collection. And mind you, they are not to expensive. Well, depends on if your opting for designer label. Of course the quality and label would increase the purchase amount. But you can also find similar fashions that follow along this trend at much more reasonable stores and boutiques.
Celebrities ranging from Kate Bosworth to Rhianna are sporting this new trend. You can find this hot style that fits your pockets at lower end retailers such as Old Navy and even Target.
After the debut of the Slumdog Millionnaire movie, Bolly fashion has been one of the crazes on the rise in the entertainment and fashion industry. The movie debuted a wide variety of beautiful and unique bolly fashion. With tones of deep orange, blues and green's, the fashion industry has welcomed it's style. But I do wonder(of course), why it's called Bolly and why it's entertainment elite is called Bollywood? Maybe you guys can help me out, if you know, please comment and teach me a thing or two And also, why call it Bollywood? Maybe after Hollywood? Probably right! Well, I totally understand the pun on it's actors and Hollywood, but I am lost pertaining to the bollyness of it.

When you hear the name 'Calvin Klein', you remember. You remember the trademark iconic jeans everyone use to wear in the 80's and 90's, and if you're a seasoned person, even the 70's. Calvin Klein is a matriarch of American fashion. Founded in 1968, CK has had a lot of different head designers in charge of making a statement with the brand Calvin Klein or CK. Since it's creation, they've expanded to not only making coats, jeans, couture, ready to wear and beauty(fragrance), but also handbags and accessories. They normally bring a sort of classic American look blended with couture and specialty.
Because I love what Calvin Klein stands for(and I love the way their jeans fit me), I try to keep up with their new fashion, designs and spreads. After viewing their RTW(Ready To Wear) Fall 2009 Runway fashions, I have to say I basically fell asleep at my computer.BORING! Believe me, I know that there is an appointed amount of boredom when viewing a runway line but I really did expect a little more from Calvin Klein's line. I feel it was mediocre. Mostly earthen tones and colors, such as white, tan, cream and black, it was a bit dead. Color is what brings fashion to life. A great mixture of color actually. I like earth tone's but I believe that CK should have added a little more color and a more diverse design line. See my pics

I am going to scream this as loudly as I can, Skinny Jean's do not make you look skinny!. That's right! I don't really understand. Why call them skinny, if they don't really make you look it? Now, when girls that are already skinny wear skinny jeans, of course they look skinny, they're already skinny, but what about the thick one's and the stout one's or even the fat one's. The reason I'm voicing this issue is because, a pair of nice, dark blue, skinny jeans, were given to me as a gift for Christmas. I fell in love with them immediately, thought would even trim down my curves(where there's a lot more than most). To my disgust, they didn't make me look skinny at all, if anything, they only made my big butt look bigger. I knew I needed to lose about 20 lbs. of post baby weight(my baby is 7 mths now), but these jeans made me look like I needed to lose a go 40 lbs. Ridiculous
I feel that is false advertising at it's finest people. Some mike differ and argue the fact that they are called skinny jeans because they are made skinny or without any flare to them. Well, regardless of the true intention of it's brilliant creator, they don't live up to the hype for us normal women who don't wear a size negative 00. What really bother's me sometimes is seeing women that are larger than I and those that are extremely large try to wear skinny jeans, OMG! In my mind, I think,"I wish someone would love them enough to tell them that that's not for them." I did some love

With all the talk in the world today about the recession and how bad it is and how many peoples its effecting, I'm effected also, and I know all or most of your are being effected even as we speak. If you're not being effected, you know someone or you have a family member that's being effected. You can be effected in many different way's, such as a job loss, hours being cut, wages being cut, demotion, etc. Well, during a time when we all have to budget our dinero's, us women might have to cut some essential things, you know the things that we have to have to be fabulous. OUR HAIR!! The bible calls a woman's hair, her 'glory' and it is that. Fella's you know how you feel when you walk by a beautiful lady with a head of healthy, flowing, shiny hair? Well, us women feel the same way about having that kind of hair, but it can be very expensive, with products and stylists' and all.
I've found one way where we women can keep our hair beautiful and keep a little money in our pockets at the same time. Say bye bye to all of those expensive name and brand products and hi to ALL NATURAL!!! When I say natural, ladie's, I'm not talking about the new green beauty product in your nearest beauty supply, but items that are located in your fridge, pantry and grocery store. It's actually the new thing, with money being so scare for so many. You can provide your hair with equal if not more better quality conditioning, rinsing, moisture, shine and much more, by using all natural products, and the great part is that they don't cost much at all, dollars even

I love fashion but I believe that there is some glitches in it's communication with us, normal folks. Don't want to be too deep or anything, but I will be reveiling my top ten thoughts as to what I do NOT like about some things. Each day, I will reveal a new one. Today, I am reveiling number 10:
10. I hate that some trends don't last long enough! [ Click here to read more ]
I know you're wandering "what the h** is she talking about?" Well, scary is back! Now scary to me, might not mean scary to you. Scary fashion is back for the Fall 09. Many top notch designers displayed their thoughts and styles for the fall of 09 at the L.A. Fashion week show a week ago. Designers ranging from MartinMartin to Laeken were present, presenting their fashion guru mojo. The way that most of these designers has presented Goth and Grundge is scary to me people, now this is just my opinion. I'm sure that I will probably get a couple of bad commented emails after this blog, understandable. Fashion has stated that goth, dark, grundgy is what's going to be hot this fall. I don't get it I do believe that fashion is evolutionary and ever evolving, but goth is not one of my fav styles or looks. I do value some goth inspired looks. These are the type of looks I gag upon:

Being a fashion queen that's been in the modeling game for I don't know, 2 decades, Naomi Campbell has came together with Tyson Beckford and Liya Kebede. They've joined forces to make worldwide awareness of racism in the fashion/modeling world. When I first read an article on this, I thought to myself, "hmm....actually, racism is still so everywhere!!" Not to say that we hav not came a long way as a nation and country. We have came universes away from the time of Dr. Martin Luther King. But we have still got a long way to go. I can say this not by being a bystander only, but because I am young and black in America. My name is a black cultured name. I've been discrimated against many times, I believe, while applying for jobs. So I totally understand where Naomi Campbell is coming from. I don't believe that most of my experienced racism was made consciously.
