Did You Miss Me?

December 11th 2011 05:19
Hey everyone! Your favorite little delinquent is back on My Life My Muse!

I'm going to try my darndest to post here periodically... just giving updates about what's going on in my world, and hopefully getting a little taste of what's happening in yours. Hope you haven't forgotten me!

This photo of the Large Hadron Collider has nothing to do with this post. I simply think it is cool. Yep, I'm back!

Beta Girl's Sexiest Men Alive

November 21st 2010 00:12
As most of you have probably noticed... People has released its 2010 edition of Sexiest Man Alive. The winner? One Mr. Ryan Reynolds. While Mr. Reynolds is certainly ab-tastic, and I'm more than happy not to have to look at Brad Pitt or George Clooney on this cover for a change, I'll admit that I think my list is a little better.

So... here we go! Beta Girl's Sexiest Men Alive!

5. Gerard Butler (Duh)

I mean... the man is F-I-N-E. No doubt about it. Whether he's a Spartan, a Phantom, a Ghost, or an idiot... I love him. He's dashing. That Scottish brogue... damn. He makes every and all lists always. Sighhhhhhhh.

4. Guy Ritchie

I don't know what it is.... Maybe it's that he doesn't know he's sexeh. Maybe it's the way he kicked Madonna to the curb (I like to think that's how it happened. "Sorry, Madge. You're a bloody beast and I'll have no more!") Maybe it's his talent (he's directed a few of my favorite films)... or maybe it's that damn accent. Whatever it is, he gets the BG seal of approval.

3. Jude Law

Ahhhh yes. Old Bedroom Eyes. The lovely Mr. Law has always made my heart go pitty pat. He's just dreamy, isn't he? The lilt of his voice and the line of his jaw.... he's magical. He's apparently a bit of a cad, as they say, but he's not the type you wanna marry. Perhaps just have an illicit tryst while snowed in at a small cottage in England. Yes... that'll do.

2. Russell Crowe

He'll always be sexy to me. True... he may no longer be in "Gladiator" shape... but I don't mind. It's those penetrating eyes, that serious forehead, that incredible talent. Mr. Crowe hasn't gotten a lot of good press in the past few years, following some unseemly outbursts and perhaps a smidger or arrogance, but he's still incredible to watch. One of the best actors ever. Mrrrrow. Amazing man.

1. My Husband!

The Censor bar is two fold...1. For privacy reasons. A BG's gotta have some secrets, and 2. Because he's mine Mine MINE!!!!

My husband is a MAN through and through. He's an amazing provider, a loving companion, sexy as can be, and he's got that "I'm hot because I don't have the slightest idea that I'm hot" thing going on. Love.

A Gift For My Husband

November 8th 2010 12:37
Goodness me, Beta Girl has been sitting dormant for far too long. It is time to dust her off and return her to her former glory!

To kick things off, I'm going to share something personal. I just love my husband. He's the sun and the moon to me. We have so many delightful inside jokes and can practically read each other's minds. He's my lover, my best friend, and my soul mate.

We've had our share of rocky roads, and what couple doesn't? We weather each storm that faces us and emerge more in love, more in tune, and more committed to one another than ever.

So.. while this Beta Girl can certainly appreciate the Hollywood Alpha Male from afar... there is only one man that is the Alpha and Omega of her existence.

I made the following video for my darling man. I think it reflects the silly, sincere, and sacred nature of our marriage.

For my loving, amazing, forever love.... You made me laugh when I was crying, you made me smile when I was frowning, You made me strong when I was weary... there is no man more perfectly molded to my being than you.

Fake Fake Fake

April 12th 2010 09:54
This is a personal rant based on some recent experiences I've had. Let's call it a purging of the poison.

As hard as I try... I will never comprehend how some fake and deplorable people manage to sink their filthy tentacles into good and honest folk... How they're able to trick and deceive those that normally are very perceptive . It baffles my mind to see truly intelligent people being taken in by OBVIOUS fakes... I'm talking about people who aren't even clever in the way that they corrupt and conjure

My hero: Philip

October 21st 2009 21:37
This video is so inspirational it gave me a good cry. Filmed during a marriage equality hearing in April of this year in Maine, Philip delivered his testimony to the nearly 4,000 attendees.

As a life long Republican and a veteran of World War II, he displays the kind of courage and compassion that I hope will one day be the rule and not the exception

Pretty Pictures

September 30th 2009 06:49
I'm feeling wildly cosmic and in tune with the Universe these past couple of days. I was going to write all about how much perspective I've gained of late and how peaceful I've allowed myself to become, but instead I think I'll just share some pretty pictures. If I go on too much about cosmic oneness and healing positive light.... you'll accuse me of being A. Hippy Dippy New Age Freakshow B. Nuts or C. Stoner.

Pretty pictures it is! Although, the pictures in and of themselves and whether or not they are pretty is a matter of personal taste. Ha! Don't care [ Click here to read more ]

Love Prophet

(I'm tuned in tonight.)

To me, there is irrefutable proof of the divine spark. Pure love has manifested on Earth already. Now in the heavens...now in the cosmos...now in the hearts of those who still are tuned in to the blissful frequency that transcends time and death

All of life is suffering right? Hmmm. Seems so.

It isn't easy being the person that picks up the pieces for everyone else. I've taken this role my entire life. Whether it's through work or in daily interpersonal relationships....Natalina is the shoulder. Natalina is the rock. Natalina keeps it together so you don't have to

Finally a voice of reason for Barack Obama

Not really. Not at all actually.

In fact, this is the most ridiculous crap I've seen in a while. Amusing? Sure. But also scary

on IMPENDING ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE ...?

May 20th 2011 04:03
I actually thought the zombie post may catch your eye Thank ya mucho for the shout out!

I have to say... even though I know the entire CDC post is meant to be a funny way to draw attention to disaster preparedness... there is a little part of me... a tiny little place deep in my conspiracy warped mind that asks.... what if? What if they're trying to tell us that... gulp... zombies are a real threat?

Just in case, I'm gonna stay alert and keep my bug out bag at the ready... lest some outbreak renders my neighbors unable to resist the allure of my braaaaaaaaaains!

I cannot recall where I saw the trailer for this, but I remember thinking "I HAVE TO SEE THAT!" And then I forgot about it.

Thanks for reminding me, and for your great review. (Although I skipped the part about a "possible spoiler".)

Soon as I get a chance to see it.. I'll let ya know what I thought.

on Legend

September 14th 2010 22:49
Well... one of my faves of all time. There I said it.

Now, I have the 2 disc set with both versions as well, and as an adult I enjoy the Director's Cut far more than the original.

BUT.... the child in me is somewhat partial to the American release, because that's what I grew up with and fell in love with as a kid. Even the Tangerine Dream track which is silly... brings back memories. And the song at the end... as cheeeeeeeeeesy as it is... I just remember being a little girl wanting to be a princess, running with Unicorns and singing... "Legends can be now and forever... teaching us to love for goodness sake! Legends can be now and forever...Loved by the sun, loved by the sun."

on The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane

Oh my this sounds fabulous. The title rings a bell but I didn't know anything about it. Well certainly look for it. Sadly almost all of the local video stores have gone out of business in my city recently, so I'm left with the subpar selection of Blockbuster. Will look into picking this up on Amazon. Well done Bryn. I'm sold!

Hey JD! Haven't been over here in Orble land for some time, but thought I'd pay some of my faves a visit.

Three of our local DVD shops just went out of Business, and sadly we are left only with Blockbuster. The good news about that is that their going out of Business sales seriously boosted my DVD collection to epic proportions!

I remember this movie from childhood, and was super excited to find the DVD for $1.00 at one of these sales. I have yet to watch it again but now after reading your review all of the ultra cheesy memories are coming back to me, so I think I'll watch it tonight

Hope all is well dear. Great to see you still hard at it here on this great website of yours!

I thought of you as I sat and watched this film. I thought, "Oh I bet Bryn will have a few things to say about this one!"

There were a FEW things I liked about this movie, and for lack of a better term... I enjoyed the "prettiness" of it. The lovely Dren, the night sky and the woods... these were pleasing to my eyeballs. Beyond that... blah. And I get so tired of Adrian Brody's "Too cool for school" thing. He comes off the same in most of his movies as he does in interviews. Especially in this one. Clearly they allowed him to determine his own wardrobe. He just wears me out.

By the by, I actually thought they were going to take this film in a demented and different direction. I thought Sarah Polly's character was going to be taken in a wickedly different path after she takes the cat away and then with the operating table scene in the barn. I think they missed an opportunity there to turn the tables. Ala "who's the real monster"... see what I mean? Oh well. Maybe that's why I don't make movies

on The Fourth Kind

May 5th 2010 02:40
Thanks for the shout out Bryn I'm not too surprised that you didn't care for this one. Valid points all around. But I just kinda did. Maybe its the fact that I am just plain terrified by the concept of alien abduction, so most things that allude to it creep me out, but I loved the connection made between the aliens here and their Sumerian counterparts. I am obsessed with tales of the Anunnaki, so the reference made me excited.

I agree that it was pretentious. And the archival footage was obviously not real. And Dr. Tyler's voice grated on me after a while. But with all of its flaws there was one part that just really terrified me and it was the section you mention toward the end where Tyler is sitting on the couch and is pulled away by the unseen force. The Sumerian voice scared the poop out of me, and what it was saying... "Child... mine! I am...God." Man, I must admit I got chills. It worked for me.

Overall, Communion and Fire in the Sky still rank highest for surreal scares on the Abduct-o-meter..but The Fourth Kind was still a guilty pleasure for me. I'd be interested to hear JD's take on it.

Btw... my batting average has been stinking up the joint these days on my recommendations to you! lol
