on will those spammers ever stop?

Yes I saw that feature and how they "scam baited" the Nigerians. Damo I wouldn't use 60 minutes content as a reliable reference for generalisations like that....

In my experience, its financially comfortable, altruistic people who haven't ever been exposed to social engineering attacks (scams or hacks...like encouraging you to login to your bank website to update your login details) that get caught. Usually older...and havent had exposure to great resources like the 'net to learn the good bad and the ugly.

Wouldn't say they are stupid, considering they usually have a great lifestyle.

on female bloggers - bloghers

Surely this is just a storm in a d-cup. God that is an, old pathetic joke but hey, I am just a pathetic male! Seriously though, gender discrimination in writing has been around for donkeys years. I think its a lot to do with how people still view agression between the sexes. Notice how written opinion e.g. a Blog, will always seem to come out more aggressive than if it were spoken? (Thats why you put flowery salutations in emails so that they seem like you are being a demanding a$$ when you ask a question) Some people, both M and F still balk at an agressive chick on a soapbox. Crazy but true. Think back to what we know about the 60's. When a woman spoke out against war etc, the majority thought she was either a women's libber growing armpit hair/burning her bra...or her opinion was dismissed, unlike her male counterpart who was considered the exciting " radical". Mums at home would think "she should be quiet and think about making a good home" and blokey blokes would think "chicks who get angry are funny".

Fast forward to today, and the Paris Hilton type deluded celebrity that some people unfortunately want to aspire to, hasn't helped the situation. I'm actually scared for the uneducated minds out there, when I read that Paris or Lindsay think they are helping millions by just being beautiful. Some Mums want their daughters to be quiet and beautiful and star in a reality TV show and a lot of males in power want the same thing, just with less clothes!! Case in point: It annoys me that when a leader like Julia Gillard speaks out, the first thing you see in the Newspapers is how bad her haircut is. WTF, this could be our future leader, it might pay to take notice of her opinion given she will be directly affecting our lives soon.

For me generally, when I read a blog about travel, technology or some other hobby, I'm totally gender neutral. When I read a Social commentray blog, I'm aware of gender but only because I usually see less slang and threats to kill people When it comes to music blogs I'm very gender aware cos you chicks listen to such lame stuff! (joke joke...please dont throw things at me)

Re: what Ahmed said about Women in tech, I have a unique perspective because I am a tech manager in support. Given the choice, I would love to add a female to a tech team. Selfishly, because boys and girls working side by side seem to work harder to either outdo each other or impress each other ... and practically because I find that females are usually more likely to be rational when faced with a painful customer support problem. Sometimes non-aggession is the 'shoe that fits!'

That's my two cents.

Gold. Get these guys into a Chem Brothers or Beasties clip Maybe these guys could help the 3-we-be defeat the robot in 'intergalactic' with their football kicks! Actually here's an idea. Get the dance troupe from fatboy slim's 'praise you' to do a dance off against these guys. Hilarity!

Helen Coonan is the biggest stumbling block towards decent wired and wireless comms in Australia. What a joke. An ex-Avon lady presiding over one of the most important portfolio's of our nation. I mean, if she stopped the dodgy deals/pandering with Tel$tra, opened her eyes and listened to an independant, educated person she would realise that spending a few $$ 'in the right direction' e.g. FTTN or preferable FTTH (fibre to the home) to increase average speeds to business and home would have a HUGE economy of scale for her own government and the business sector who basically fund who they want to be in govenment. We are starting to get in the right direction with wireless broadband, only because there has been no regulation until recently and good ol capatlist supply and demand in the market place has spurred on growth. realtime TV on your mobile is great, but think of the hundreds of other applications for such speed. e.g. hospitals spend massive $$$ to be linked and communcating important collective information. ADSL is not reliable enough so they have to go to HDSL or Frame Relay. Ouch! A decent 10mbit Fibre or low contention, high reliability WiMax link would solve a lot of problems. $hit they could do those TV style operations where the doctor is in L.A. guiding some poor smo's in Bankstown public how to pull out a heart for 1/4 of the cost.
Thats my two cents.
