Juice - podcasting software

March 3rd 2011 08:27
It is my software of choice for Podcasting. I use it almost daily, to check whether there is anything new. I absolutely love it's yellow, lemon icon. It is very... well... Juicy .

Program is fast, can download multiple streams at once increasing overall speed.

PopPeeper

Small and efficient piece of software. It's basically a amall, sufficient mail checker. Has all the features you need in a program that resides in your tray and checks whether anybody has send you anything. PopPeeper however looks a little too '90 and therefore doesn't fit my Win XP system, but hey, it works and is small. I use it as my main mail software, I compose and send email using it. I replaced Thunderbird with it because of its small size.

Audacity

Small, not blated software for sound editing. I have been using it for over a year now for recording my voice and doing simple sound work (removing redundant spaces, noise, etc). Audacity is tiny in comparision to, let's say, Ableton Live or Pro Tools. And is also free - doesn't cost you hundreds of dollars on selected software and thousands on hardware.

Some problems with GrooveShark

February 25th 2011 07:19
I absolutely love GrooveShark and the idea of storing my music online. I also love Last.fm, which I have been using for a rather long time as a plugin for my WinAmp. Unfortunately, there was no way to connect those two without spending some pennies on a VIP support. And I didn't have any money to do so, so... I searched the internet looking for something that would connect those two.

And then link the Rumpus appeared. Program was small, efficient and not bloated (not counting Java environment, in size of a 100ton whale). It scrobbled more or less efficiently, I was happy with it, using it more or less for half a year. And they A CRYSIS appeared. GrooveShark stopped publishing RSS feeds on which Rumpus was based. And it stopped working. And I stopped using GrooveShark
