Tuesday March, 21, 2006 what a long exhausting pretty fun day. I was up at 2:30am, got emails one last time and got ready to venture to Columbus to catch my plane by 8:30am. The drive took the full 3 hours I was told it would be. But at least it didn't take 6 hours like my Dad said it might. Sun Parking was easy to find. And they picked me up at my car and took me right to the airport.
A snow storm was getting ready to hit Cincinnati which was where my hour layover was, so they rushed us on the flight. No beverage service was available for those not in first class "because of the rough weather". But they had to go through coach to bring first class their drinks. I will never understand Delta on that one, which is why I fly Continental most of the time. My connecting flight was Continental and although the ride seemed a bit rougher because of the bad weather, they served 2 snacks and 2 beverage. I even got a whole can of apple juice because it was the last one and they didn't want to throw it away. The worst thing about that flight was the deicer they had to use before we left the ground. It smelled like kerosene. The time in California when we took off was 7am. When I got to LAX, I took the blue super shuttle from the airport to my hotel.
I stayed at Beverly Garland's Holiday Inn. Beverly Garland has been in Several Movies and TV shows from the 1950s to the present:. Some TV shows you may recognize include: "7th Heaven", "Port Charles","Scarecrow and Mrs. King" and, My Three Sons. Movies you might recognize including: Christmas Vacation 2: Cousin Eddie's Island Adventure. She was television's first policewoman as the star of "Decoy" (1957). The hotel was wonderful. With coffee bar, restaurant, bar, heated pool, sauna, and free shuttle to universal studios.
I went shopping at City walk for about 2 hrs and 30 min. The time flew by. It was a lot bigger than I remembered. I bout a Hollywood Hard Rock Caf onesy for Mara, a Dr. Seuss book of best lessons for my brother (to read to Mara. LOL) and a Meet Strawberry Shortcake book for mysister-in-law. I bought her that because we were discussing the VH1 special on toys and she loved Strawberry short Cake when she was younger, and now she can introduce oneof her favorite childhood friends to her daughter.I thought that would be really sweet.
At 6:15pm I caught the shuttle back to the hotel and had a very good dinner. I had the best eggplant dish I have ever had. They put a bed of white rice. Hollowed out an eggplant and stuffed it with more chopped eggplant, Zucchini, mushrooms, bell peppers and lots of parmesan cheese. On one side were some fresh carrots and on the other side green string beans. I also got two rolls and a Diet Pepsi. I was so tired, I went to bed at 9pm (2am Ohio time). In Ohio time I was up from 2:30 am to 2 am. No wonder I was so tired.
