Musings about Bravo Competition Shows

October 5th 2007 21:42

so, I'm still disappointed about the Top Chef Finale the other night. Sure, Hung may have technical skill, but as Dale (and just about everyone else) pointed out, he has no soul. Although, to be fair, I would have loved to try his duck sous vide, because that looked awesome!

My vote was for Dale. True, I did get to meet Dale while working in Chicago, and he was such a nice guy. And I also thought he showed the most progress throughout the course of the show. I was actually scared that he wasn't going to make it past week 3, but he really stepped up. Not only that, but he was by far the most entertaining contestant. In fact, he should get his own show. I do know that he is currently opening up a restaurant in Chicago . Still, I would watch him if he had a show. I like the way he isn't cocky, and he has a great sense of humour.

Although, being a girl, it would have been awesome if Casey could have won. I thought she really had a chance, but much like last season's Elia, she seemed to fall apart towards the end. Ah well, I'm sure Top Chef will be back next year.

Speaking of being back, YEAH FOR PROJECT RUNWAY'S RETURN. I'm so excited, and that is coming from someone who eschewed the show for the first two season's. I fell in love with PR last year, not so much for that season in particular (I thought Jeffrey was such a jerk, though I did love that yellow plaid couture dress), but the reason that PR is great is because instead of the typical reality show bullshit of people screwing each other over, PR is based on talent and creativity. Much like Top Chef. I did have the chance (thanks to Bravo's penchant for marathons) to catch up on the first two season's of Project Runway, and I admit that when the first season is on even now, I have to watch at least on episode or two, usually in the back ground, but still, it's an addiction. oh, and I HEART Tim Gunn. I have to catch up on his new show.

Top Chef -- Is that like Iron Chef or something completely different?
