Double Whammmy

July 15th 2010 02:42
So it just occurred to me that I've neglected this blog for wayyyy too long. What's my excuse? AbSoluteeely NotHING! I'm sorry. Summer's just really fun, and sometimes I forget that I made this thing, and it probably gets lonely and depressed without me. Don't hate me.

I'm gonna show you two artists just because their so similar to Crystle Castles, and oh yeah, to show you I'm sorry. The first group Heartsrevolution is alwaysalways being compared to Crystle Castles, and it seems the majority of people believe Heartrevolution to be the winner, but I disagree. I think Crystle Castles edgy sound (at least in their first album) was more exciting and holds interest longer than Heartsrevolution's climatic, full-in-your-face kinda feel (I hope I'm not sounding too technical.)

The second one, You Love Her Coz She's Dead I would say, is almost like an updated copy of Crystle Castles. I think the only thing which makes the two different is that YLHCSD is a British duo, and CC is from Ontario. The British aspect really comes through in YLHCSD'S vocals, and that for me gives them a slight edge cause that makes their music sound a bit more refined, while the chiptuning still makes it funky and original, and the contrast is awesome. CC's vocals are unique, but can give you a headache after a while. I could listen to YLHCSD 4 4eva.

Extra long post means you won't eat me?

Alright, so Crystal Castles came out with a new album which, scheduled for release in June, leaked early back in April. And guess what. Like it's predecessor, is named Crystal Castles. Some people go as far to call it "Crystal Castles 2" which, omg, reeks creativity (come on, even Deadmau5 can beat that with "Random Album Title" and "For Lack Of A Better Name."

Anyways. Yeah, you know despite all the positive reception from this album, I just didn't feel it. I think where they went wrong was in that it felt like something I'd heard before. All the originalty I'd heard from the first one (cause this was like, the first chiptuning I'd heard) was sucked like a vaccuum cleaner. One critic liked it because "[They] put aside the gimmicky Atari-melting antics of yore." I'm not really sure what the fuck that even is, but I think that's what was missing for me. Apparently alota people disagree with me on this, but to me Violent Dreams just sucks campared to Alice Practice and even if you're not into (quote critic above) there's still the mellow, Nintendo-ish coolness ofAir Wave which no amount of Suffocation can beat.

Media Intervention!

July 5th 2010 17:09
So the other day I was manhandled into buying Portal on steam which was, get this, 90% OFF. Yeah. It was then that I realized I had a steam account, and steam just got deleted and I was too lazy to install it again. It was after I reinstalled it that I realized; steam is awesome. And it was here that I discovered 3 year old kicks ass on Mirrors Edge and Portal

Isn't gaming great? He's probably on his way to becoming a rocket scientist or a neurosurgeon.

Further

July 2nd 2010 18:30
If I'm going to talk good albums that came out this year, of course I have to give a HUGGE shout out to The Chemical Brothers. Seventh studio album "Further" (released June 14) is a major step in a new direction. The tracks have more of a psychedelic and melodic feel, with the first half containing no lyrics like Escape Velocity which was seems heavily influenced by Kraftwerk. *Just a note* I lol'd when I saw that most of the comments were people saying they were high while watching this, and you know, I always wondered how much better that can make already awesOmE songs. If you've had this experience feel free to comment...that's right, I still need my first comment! Please, this blog isn't complete until then. I promise I don't bite, (well only if you're an asshole) and any input/criticism is always WanteD

Oh yeah. so the next half of the songs have a more emotional feel to them, which is cool cause they're not overly sappy, but still just make you feel happy. Chemical Brothers just turn everything cool I think, and if you don't like Swoon You're just...you're just....just

TDCC

July 1st 2010 22:41
So for a while I was debating what to post first, music I've been into or new music I'm discovering? I've decided to post some artists that have been the highlight of (well at least my year) and then move towards upcoming and emerging artists. Since I rarely listen to anything mainstream, and like to find orginal and unique qualities in music, I hope you haven't heard of most of the stuff I'm gonna post. Cause if so, I'm doing my job.

I found these dudes back a while back...January I think. Then they had couple thousand views for this single. Seven months later I return to find over a million? Looks like the public's finally discovering them. Took them long enough

Evolving!! (for the better)

June 29th 2010 20:02
So, I know. New name, new look, and I finally figured out how you get a picture at the top of the page! ( 30 XP) So, you maybe wondering, why? And what is that mouse at the top of the page? Well, I've decided to base my blog mainly around music, since music is one of the most influential things in my life (and consumes much of my time.) My favorite media to explore. I hope writing about what I like will give this blog a fresh new explosive MOFO bang! it seems to need, but hasn't even touched upon. I'll still do other things besides music, but the fact remains that I am constantly listening to it, and find new artists all the time, so I'll have more stuff to write about this way. If anything random and extremely breaking news on the latest technology which will ultimately save humanity comes to my knowledge (or if Bradley Cooper finally starts answering my calls) by god, I'll type that shit up asap!

But for now, I'd like to introduce you to my greatest friend. AKA the picture above

The iphone 4: Apple's Big Failure

June 28th 2010 23:40
I've never been a fan of Apple. Period. I mean, don't get me wrong, their stuff's pretty; ipods, headphones, Macs and all. And I guess that stuff works all right, but you know, with a company that focuses so much on "looking cool" it's bound to flop sometime. iphone review
Sure, it looks AWESOME and comes with all those features. But does it work and is it a durable product? Hmmmm. iphone class action suit
