Well, I'm joking: it could seem that Rome is a little bit (30% of the amount of the US tourists coming to Italy) neglected and under estimated, but the real reason about this "escape" of the US tourists is without doubt the lower rate of the dollar with the euro currency.
The crisis of the "subprime" made lower the US dollar in other financial markets and this fall was repercuted on other domains too, especially in the tourism domain: being a Rome driver tour guide and doing Rome tours mostly with US people, I saw immediately this fall of incoming people to Rome (I do tours also for french and spanish people, but having the euro currency there are no problems for them).
The question is: when will be fixed and eventually resolved this currency problem ? (for the moment even the most "illuminated financial analysts don't seem to understand too much about this).
En plongenat le regard en direction du Tibre, le fleuve de Rome, on peut jouir d'une vue splendide de ce fleuve, aux bords longés de murailles et de grands platanes. Sur sa rive gauche on peut admirer, entre autres, les ruines imposantes du Théatre de Marcellus, utilisé à nouveau pendant le Moyen-Age comme résidence de notables de ]Rome et le dome en pavillon de la Synagogue (construite en 1904 en style architectural syrien) qui domine l'ancien "ghetto" juif.
Plus loin, au delà du détour du fleuve, on peut apercevoir les grandes étendues vertes de Villa Doria Pamphili avec ses magnifiques jardins du 17eme siècle, ainsi que la colline du Mont Janiculum où se dresse la Fontaine monumentale de l'"Acquedotto Paolo" aussi dite "Acqua Paola".
Le Vittoriano de Place Venise à Rome a été pensé et bati pour offrir un tribut à la mémoire de Victor Emmanuel II (le dernier roi d'Italie) et c'est pour cette raison qu'il est normalement appelé Vittoriano, c'est-à-dire dédié à Victor Emmanuel II. Seulement en un deuxième temps le site fut choisi pour y poser le Monument au Soldat Inconnu et devint ainsi un lieu de culte patriotique national.
Mais l'idée de faire coincider les thèmes du tribut au roi et de l'amour pour la patrie était déjà dans la tete de Giuseppe Sacconi, son idéateur et réalisateur, qui avait prévu un sous-bassement de la statue équestre du roi, d'une longueur de 50 mètres: ce projet ne fut jamais réalisé. C'était un bas-relief représentant un double cortège formé par des hommes célèbres précurseurs de l'unité d'Italie qui commenca en 1848 et se termina par la réunification des 20 régions d'Italie (jusqu'alors séparées en duchés,comtés,règnes et protectorats sous dominations de différents pays).
Une curiosité très intéressante: en 1890, pendant les travaux d'aménagement de l'espace autour du monument, fut retrouvé le fossile d'un éléphant préhistorique (mieux lui vaut la dénomination de "mammouth", comme je décris plus loin) avec la machoire et les yeux pétrifiés. Grace à cette découverte, le professeur Portis, directeur du Cabinet Géologique de l'Université "La Sapienza" de Rome attribua le site à la période "pliocène supérieure" (c'est-à-dire d'il y a 2 millions d'années environ). Seulement une partie de l'éléphant put etre extraite et les deux tiers du squelette restèrent à l'intérieur des murs du monument.
Pour construire le monument on dut abattre les édifices (quelques habitations du Forum Romain et des autres édifices qui remontaient au Moyen-Age) situés au Nord du Capitole.
Comment devenir No 1 sur Google est une question sur laquelle je faisais des conjectures depuis un bon instant: étant donné que je pratique le métier de Rome driver guide et que je montrais Rome aux touristes des USA en vacances, je me posais des questions pour aboutir à paraitre sous les yeux de moultes personnes de la façon la plus correcte possible et gratuitement.
Une grande multitude de gens vous assurera d’arriver dans les toutes premières positions en un clin d’oeil en payant leurs livres électroniques qui englobent des astuces selon eux très difficiles voire impossibles à savoir sur Internet. Rien de véritier en tout cela, il est obligatoirement nécessaire par contre de faire un très grand nombre de recherches partout où l'on peut trouver des conseils intelligents et honnetes qui vous montreront les différents chemins à suivre pour la réussite d'un bon positionnement.
Tout ceci avec beaucoup de temps, de patience, de travail,d’acharnement et en prévoyant de matérialiser des petites progressions presque invisibles mais constantes sur la voie de votre ascension au sommet des plus importants moteurs de recherche comme Google et Yahoo.

when in Rome, was going to the Circus Maximus, the hugest arena of the world constructed for the first time in a wooden structure in the third century before Christ and restructured in a travertine arena under the Emperor Octavian Augustus, where were played chariot races as free games for the Roman spectators of the ancient Rome. This is a very historical and interesting place included in an itinerary for perfect Rome tours ,and on my modest point of view it is not the better place for a live concert allowing 550.000 spectators to move and dance there.
Certainly it was a concert which will stay in the people memory for long time,but there must be different places also to celebrate this sort of event.Why don't play it in an open space just out of Rome and leave this huge arena for its primary purpose, means admired only by the tourists from every side of the world without executing its destruction concert after concert?
There is nothing more romantic in all the world than visiting Rome at night with a private limousine driver. When the sun had set at the Capitol Hill, all the ruins of the Roman Forum are colored with the majesty of the history of Rome.

One month ago,more or less, I was explaining the facts of the ancient Rome to my group, during a Rome tour,as I do every day I lead them through the beauties of this wonderful city.
I was on the loggia of the Rome Capitol Hill where you have the view of the Roman Forum, then exactly where Rome was built in 753BC. I was explaining them the difference between Rome that makes part of what they called during the Middle Ages the Ancient World (Europe), and that Rome is much older than the so called New World (Americas).
