Moving In
November 17th 2010 00:00
Hello, everybody it is nice to be talking with you all again. The last few days have brought back memories of when Hine and I got married. It is like this. We have just moved into a stand-alone state flat. The brickwork is a terracotta colour. The previous tenant kept a magnificent garden that I have inherited. There are roses everywhere surrounded with flowering creepers and all sorts of other plants. I have to admit that it also has the best crop of chickweed I have seen for some time.
Now what has this to do with Hine and me getting married? Well our home group helped us to move. These people prayed through the place as we Christians tend to do. The little old woman who lived here before us went to hospital and sadly never came home. However, I am getting ahead of myself.
When Hine and I got married, I always told the children that there would be many changes. I also informed them that some of the changes we would not like. Imagine my surprise when finding out I was the first casualty. Hine told me I was not to clean my chainsaw on the kitchen table any more.
The kids all thought this very funny. This week with moving house some of these quirks came back to haunt me. For instance, where do you hang a picture when it has been hung several times already? The chair looks better there. No, it does not; she then asks for it to be moved into the other corner.
Opening several dozen boxes of stuff has me in good training for Christmas morning. The best part about this is the recycling bin. All that paper and cardboard goes straight in. Well by now, we have settled in. The power is on, the phones been connected and the television aerial works. Now where is the nearest fish and chip shop?
